Apple and Pecan Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2006
This is really such a simple yet versatile stuffing recipe - great for those who don't want to put too much effort into the prep work that goes into stuffing. Next time I made add sausage for some extra flavor. Be sure not to over cook or it will become too dry and separated (vs. crunchy on the top and moist beneath).

Roast Turkey with Herbs

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2006
Delicious turkey! I have made turkey with a more complicated brine - this was simple, delicious and easy. Next time I may try the citrus brine just to compare - 5 stars for both ease and taste...always brine - it's the way to ensure juciness!

Dutch Apple Pie with Oatmeal Streusel

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2006
Yummy pie and my father-in-law said it was "superb". I was actually able to make two pies in normal frozen pie shells from this one recipe. The streusel topping did not come out as crunchy as I would have liked - not sure why, but the flavors overall were fantastic - don't skip the lemon zest - it does add a bit of something to the taste!

Cranberry Walnut Relish I

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2006
I really enjoyed the ease of preparing this recipe. I'm not sure why, but it was a bit on the "too tart" side; however, now that we are eating leftovers, it seems a bit better with age, so maybe next time I will prepare a few days ahead.

Libby's® Pumpkin Cranberry Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2006
YUM! A delicious cranberry bread - very sweet and flavorful - loved the addition of fresh cranberries (but my kids did not - sigh - picky, picky!). My favorite pumpkin bread recipe is still the Down East Maine Pumpkin Bread - delcious and versatile! This pumpkin bread would be perfect for gifts - mini loaves wrapped up in a pretty presentation!

Holiday Tossed Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2006
This recipe was not so great; it became very mushy quickly and was not anything extraordinary taste-wise. I thought with all of the different flavors - apples, walnuts, cheese - it would be yummy, but I will not make again.

Sweet Potato Oranges

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2006
These were FABULOUS and IMPRESSIVE! ...my recipe "keeper" of the season. Th presentation was beautiful, and the oranges infused a bit (not too much) of orange flavoring throughout. My kids are fighing over the leftovers now! Just a hint when making: Preparing the oranges can be tedious. I started out scooping with a spoon to get the flesh out and finally resorted to using my (clean) hands to pull out all of the mushy stuff and skin inside - it went much faster. Try these - you'll love them!!! Oh, one other hint - try to cut your oranges so they are as stable as possible, otherwise the will roll over into the water (which is a shame with that yummy topping), I made these a day ahead of time (sans the topping) and refrigererated; baked and added topping when ready to cook.

Ibby's Pumpkin Mushroom Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2006
So sorry, but yuck! I was very excited to try this recipe because it sounded so unusual and all of the ratings were wonderful. Perhaps this review isn't fair because I am more of a savory person, not sweet; and warning, this stuffing IS sweet with a taste of onions and mushrooms and herbs behind it, I made it with Libby's pumpkin cranberry bread. I will not make this again, but glad I experimented (I made a standard stuffing just in case - glad I did!). I wouldn't say it is terrible, but I won't make it again.

Herbed Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2006
I made these mashed potatoes with high hopes; however, they were actually a bit bland which is surprising with the addition of all of those fresh (and very expensive!) fresh herbs. The presentation was pretty, but threw my kids off at first because they were not the "normal" looking mashed potatoes - they did eat them once tasted, though!

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2006
This is my 8 year old daughter's absolute favorite pumpkin bread in the world. It is delcious as a mornign breakfast, toasted witha bit of butter or cream cheese - it also goes in her lunch box quite often as a snack - enjoy!! Hint - I often add chocolate chips instead of nuts.

Coconut Ice Cream

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2006
This ice cream was delicious - if anything, I would reduce the amount of shredded coconut by 1/2 cup just so that it's not so dense in every bite. i served this with a key lime bundt cake and my guests raved!!!

Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2006
These were very good! I have to say that olive oil alsways makes me nervous in a sweet baked bread/cookie, but it wans't even noticed! Very moist and yummy - enjoy!

Bacon Wrapped Smokies

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2006
These were very tast and a great "finger food" at our party. I urge you to watch it carefully while it cooks because it was done quickly (at least in my oven) and a bit over-ccoked. This wasn't a tragedy, though, because it made them crispier with more texture. They were also a bit time consuming to wrap-up so be sure to put on a good tv show or music before you get started!

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2006
These muffins were really good and even better the next day after the flavors had time to blend a bit. They were also extremely easy to make - they would make a great bake sale treat or quick Sunday morning breakfast accompianment with eggs and bacon. Also a great way to use up leftover bananas (I used four small, very ripe bananas). I did not give it five stars because although good, they were not unique or exceptional - just a great basic recipe.

Gingerbread Men

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2005
If you are not into the spicy gingerbread cookies, this recipe is for you! The cookie has the look of gingerbread, but not the bite of all the spices - the dough was easy to work with as well - whipped it up in about 10 minutes!

Sugar Cookies with Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2005
These were pretty good but not the very best I've had. I did not notice a difference in the frosting with the addition of the butter flavoring - perhaps it needs more than what the recipe calls for...all in all, a good basic sugar cookie recipe.

Dirt Cake I

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2005
Yummy, yummy and YUMMY! I made this as a birthday cake for my one year old (perfect because it is soft) and it was the hit of the party! I added gummy worms in throughout the layers and got lots of eeeewwwws!!! I also made it in a plastic pot with a few fake sunflowers (stems wrapped in aluminum foil) and it was so cute - it tasted great, too!

Yogurt Crunch Parfaits

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2005
Loved it - a snap to put together and the kids were very excited about eating such a "decadent dessert" for breakfast...will make again and try different fruits and maybe a cranberry granola next time.

Cheesy Ham and Hash Brown Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2005
I gave this recipe 4 stars because I think it has potential - I made exactly as written and it was very bland (for me); however, my husband and kids (including a one year old) loved it!!! I would defintiely add some onions and peppers and perhaps spinach, tomatoes, and muchrooms with some spices...

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2005
Good cookie recipe - easy to make. These are dense cookies, not soft and chewy. I would double the recipe if you are bringing to a party.
