Lemon-Dijon Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2009
I made this for dinner last night - and it was pretty good - but nothing spectacular. It's relatively impressive for a beginner, I may try it again, but will add a bit more Dijon.

15-Minute Dinner Nachos Supreme

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2009
This was really good - and even better served with sour cream and nacho chips that I heated in the oven. I would have rated this 3.5 stars if I could have because hubs and I both felt that there was too much rice in this dish - so next time I will reduce the amount of rice and water by 1/2 cup each. After trying this again, I find that reducing the amount of rice and water makes this dish MUCH better - but you do need about 1 1/4 cups of water to the 1 cup of rice otherwise the mixture is a bit too tight.

My Favorite Sesame Noodles

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2009
I am the recipe submitter and I just wanted to clarify some things that seem to be a tad different from what I submitted. I use the sweet red thai chili sauce in my version as well as fresh grated ginger (not dried ground). Also, it's really an integral step, is to let everything sit refrigerated for a couple of hours before eating - this is really an important step that you won't regret. I wanted to mention that one review indicated that tamari is actually just soy sauce and I want to clarify. Although tamari is a type of soy, it is not the same as regular old soy sauce. The tamari adds a much deeper, richer, more authentic flavor to the noodles. The only other thing worth mentioning is that I toast my sesame seeds - I love them this way! Happy eating!

Vegetable Chowder

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2009
I made this for dinner the other night and served it with some homemade crusty bread. The end result was good, satisfying soup - but it was very basic, so I probably won't make it again (there are other recipes out there that are better, and just as easy to make).

Tasty Meat Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2009
We made this the other night for dinner and followed the recipe exactly with exception the addition of garlic and we added a bottom crust as well. The end result was ok - surprisingly bland....this would be a good recipe for someone just learning how to cook.

Tilapia Soft Tacos with Chipotle Cream

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2009
Did not enjoy this at all - hubs took two bites and would not eat the rest. This is not a winner for us.

Candy Red Apple Martini

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2009
Really good mart....a bit too much sour apple for me (ended up using half the amount called for). The end result was really good...headace material for sure.

TSR's version of Red robin Campfire Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2009
This was good. I used hickory BBQ sauce and added a tsp of brown sugar. I was a bit sweet - and instead of using ketchup again, I think I would use chili sauce for a bit of zest.

Grilled Chicken Salad Cosmopolitan

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2009
This was pretty good. I followed the recipe exactly and in the end didn't find the chicken picked up much of the marinade flavour (although I marinated it for about 10 hours). The dressing was good, but if I were to make this again, I would add some toasted almonds for crunch

Cheesy Vegetable Soup I

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2009
We really enjoyed this soup and I would make it again for sure. I did reduce the amount of margarine to about 2 or 3 Tbsp and I also used chicken broth instead of water/bouillon. Lastly, I reduced the amount of cheese to about 1 cup, the end result was tasty and satisfying (not to mentino super quick to make). We will very likely make this again.

Buttery Rolls

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2009
I am rating these rolls 4 stars because that's what I would rate them if I changed two things next time I make them. 1. The milk should be more like 110F (70-80F is not warm enough, so my yeast didn't really bloom). 2. I would also bake these longer. I followed the instructions and while they looked don, they turned out very doughy, so I would bake them an extra 10 minutes or so. The alternative to baking longer would be to make these into individual rolls and bake that way. It's also worth mentioning that I used my KitchenAid mixer instead of a bread machine, and that worked out great!

Tanya's Louisiana Southern Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2009
This chicken was really good! We used only chicken breast halves, which I halved again. I would definitely make this again, but in my opinion, the flour really needs to be seasoned (which is why I only rated in 4 stars, instead of 5)!

Salmon Cakes

Reviewed: May 25, 2009
I made these using about a pound of grilled salmon filet and they were ridiculously good! I used minced shallot in place of the chives (because I didn't have any chives) and by mistake, I added the lemon juice to the patties instead of the sauce. The end result was pretty lemony...but very delicious. I will make the again, but remember to add the lemon juice to the sauce! I made them again and added the lemon juice to the sauce, and we prefer the juice added right to the patties!

The sauce was pretty good - and we really enjoyed that it was grilled. We'll make this again.

Corn and Avocado Salsa

Reviewed: May 7, 2009
This was ok. I only used 2 ears of corn because that's all I had - should have used 3. I used 1 avocado, because I thought that was more than enough....I also reduced the amount of cumin, cilantro, red pepper flakes, red pepper and onion. The end result tasted very much like red wine vinegar - I would certainly reduce the amount, maybe even omit it if I were to make this again.

Fruit Salsa with Cinnamon Tortilla Chips

Reviewed: May 4, 2009
Wow - this was just fantastic! I also baked the tortilla chips (I used flax seed for added fibre) and the end result was outstanding! The only change I made was to use pear in place of the kiwi because it's what I had on hand.

This takes a really long time to make (long, cool rise)...but is well worth it in the end!

Tzatziki Sauce I

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2009
I made this to along with some souvlaki we had and the end result was pretty good. I found it a bit tangier than the stuff I get at my local Greek restaurant, but I may have added a bit too much lemon juice (I just eye-balled it). I used Balkan style yogurt and it was the perfect thickness; I should also mention that I also added cucumber...it's just not tzatziki without cucumber!

Honey Wheat Sandwich Rolls

These are the most delicious rolls I have ever made. Super easy and ridiculously good - I used the dough for "Lunch Box Handwiches" on this site and it turned out really good.
