Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2011
Great meal for the whole family. With some modifications. I put in peas, carrots, a whole onion, minced garlic, and finely (I mean finely)chopped celery. Also basil, parsley, seasoning salt, and rosemary. I put the biscuits in 60 min before serving and it is perfect. Make sure to use broth instead of water and only enough to cover the chicken.

East Indian Split Pea Pilaf

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2011
Great recipe. I didn't add the cinnamon since my family is not big on cinnamon. Instead of water I used chicken broth (home made) and it added a lot of nice flavor. My kids loved this.

Broccoli Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2011
My whole family loved this recipe! I followed (mostly) the suggestions of the two most helpful reviews. I did NOT decrease the butter. I think the original amount of butter is just right. I also added carrots as my family LOVES carrots and it was very tasty! Only suggestion is if you add carrots you will need to simmer the veggies for about 30 min instead of 15 since carrots take longer to cook through. I also used all sharp cheddar and no processed cheese. Turned out awesome.

Blueberry Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2011
Love this! I took the advice of others and let it sit for a good hour. I added a little bit more almond extract cause I love it a lot lol. It tasted wonderful and was a huge hit with the family. Served it with hot waffles.

Chicken and Gnocchi Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2011
Quick and easy! Super delicious. Modifications I made where using cheese sausage instead of the chicken because we like the taste better. I could not for the life of me find gnocchi and so I used cheese tortellini (next time I will use the gnocchi. Tortellini was good, but I should have left it out....just too much pasta for a soup like this). I also used basil, thyme, and parsley. It was soooooo good! Husband said it tasted better than Olive Garden's!

I omitted the soy sauce and added cheese (suggestion from the cambell's can) and everyone LOVED it! Other than that you really shouldn't mess with this classic!

Hearty Garlic Potato Soup

By itself it is bland. I added rosemary, thyme, garlic salt and probably quadrupled the garlic...and it still could of used more.

Sarah's Applesauce

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2011
I did the crock pot version as suggested by another. 5 hours on high and it was perfect. It did need to be mashed. Also I added about 3x the cinnamon cause my family likes it. I think this was amazing and forget buying applesauce anymore!

Pineapple Upside-Down Cake II

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2011
I made this exactly as the recipe said and it came out DELICIOUS! Only thing I did different was cube up the butter and let it melt into the pan while the oven pre-heated. Saved a step. I also used a rectangle Pyrex baking dish (13x9) and it came out wonderful. Honestly...DO NOT BE AFRAID TO USE AS MUCH BUTTER AS IT CALLS FOR!!!

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2011
I made two crock pots of this. One with the BBQ sauce and one without (just the root beer) for my sister who is nursing. Everyone LOVED the one without the BBQ sauce best! The flavor was so unique and the pork super tender. Will make this again without sauce!

Used chunky peanut butter for texture. Also made a batch without marshmallows for my hubby who hates them. In his I broke up about 10-12 ginger snaps. He really liked it!

Basil-Tomato Tuna Steaks

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2012
This was delicious! Changes I made: I used garlic salt instead of the salt and pepper. I sliced the mozzarella. I used about 1 tablespoon basil paste spread over, then I put 2 slices of tomato and 2 slices of cheese on top. I used 8oz steaks instead of 4oz cause that is what I had. For the 8oz steaks I had to cook them for 8 min on each side and for about 6 maybe 7 min in the broiler. Even my 5 year old loved this! Will be making again for sure!

Split Pea and Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2012
Very tasty. I used chicken broth instead of beef. Added a few more spices, such as parsley, garlic, thyme, and oregano. Would have been 5 stars if the consistency was better. I followed the recipe and made the adjustments other people said and this was not a thick and creamy soup at all. Next time I will stick with the crock pot version.

Slow Cooker Split Pea Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2012
I used cooked bacon because I thought I had some sausage in the freezer and I didn't. Turned out tasty. DO NOT add bacon before cooking and not till the end or it will be mushy bacon. To get the good bacon flavor while it cooked I added 3 tablespoons of bacon grease. Once again the texture on this was thinner than I like so I added potato flakes about 30 min before serving and it thickened nicely and tasted great.
