Young student, in business. I'm a sucker for sweets and enjoy cooking or baking for others. As for being here, I want to learn more about cooking/baking and the like.
My favorite things to cook
Desserts by far - Brownies, cookies, cakes, cupcakes - All to myself or for friends or that someone special.. They're just a feel good make. As for meals I've mostly stuck to the familiar... chicken dishes: Chicken Parm, Chicken Ceaser Salads, and Stir Fries. I enjoy all kinds of sandwiches. A smoked meat or reuben are pretty common to me.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving; ham, turkey, candied yams and stuffing. Food and family, can't go wrong.
My cooking triumphs
Slowly but surely.
My cooking tragedies
Sixteen, my first time trying to defrost bacon - left it in too long and everything stuck together. More of an annoyance than a tragedy would be my lack of patience and having things boil over frequently.

Peppermint Bark
So great for the holidays! I didn't find use for the oil as well, and instead of putting chunks of candycane ontop of the milk chocolate, I used the 'dust'/extremely fine pieces from breaking them up to mix in while the white chocolate melted. Larger pieces were put on top to finish.

Gourmet Caramel Apples
Great recipe.. A lot easier than I thought. I found it hard to cover the apples in caramel.. and there was a lot of excess caramel that formed at the bottom. I cut the excess off so that I could re-melt and pour over top. My first time tempering chocolate - a little difficult considering I did not add enough at first but live and learn. The apples still came out very well!
