Better Spicy Pumpkin Chili

Reviewed: May 15, 2014
The recipe was tasting really great - right up until the moment when I added the pumpkin pie spices. They took a very yummy dish to tasting far less good. I highly recommend leaving them out completely!

Jewish Grandma's Best Beef Brisket

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2013
I used steak seasoning instead of salt and pepper. After searing the meat and cooking the onions, I added white wine and chicken stock instead of water, and kept it at a low simmer. I chopped potatoes into small chunks and also added them to the skillet along with mushrooms. After about 3 hours, the meat was fork-tender. I transferred it to a cutting board to rest and pulled out the potatoes, then boiled the remaining liquid down to a very tasty gravy.

Vegetarian Bean Curry

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2013
Doubled the raisins, and used golden raisins instead of regular ones. It was very delicious. I served it to a picky vegan friend of mine, and she loved it too.

I doubled the salsa and used an entire bunch of cilantro, and added a can of black beans. Very tasty.

Sausage and Sun-Dried Tomato Quiche

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2013
This recipe is great, but missing one instruction. You must cover the edges of the pie crust during the 45-minute baking time, otherwise the crust will burn. Also, 45 minutes was too long - the top was browned after only 30 minutes. Otherwise, I followed the instructions exactly as written, and everyone in the family raved about how delicious it was.

Rosemary Ranch Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2013
Instead of adding rosemary, I dried sprigs from my garden, and used these as skewers. We also ran out of propane, so I broiled instead of grilling. I added a little cayenne for some kick. Otherwise, followed the recipe as stated. My family really loved this! The rosemary flavor from the skewers permeated the meat completely - I'm glad I didn't add the rosemary in the recipe. Only use the sprigs as skewers if you really like rosemary a lot.

Slow Cook Thai Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2013
I have a peanut allergy so we subbed sunbutter and sunflower seeds for the peanutty ingredients, but otherwise made it exactly as listed. My kids and husband raved about how much they liked it, and asked that this get into the regular menu rotation.

Perfect Turkey

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2013
The turkey came out very juicy and the skin was crispy. I only had a 13 lb turkey so I had to cut the time down to 3 hours before the internal thermometer popped and my real thermometer registered the right temp. This was a huge hit with the family. I also diced up a large pinata apple and added it to the carrot/celery/thyme mixture, which the kids really liked.

Tasty Baked Meatballs

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2013
I was surprised by how many meatballs this makes - it made around 120 meatballs. I cannot see how 3 lbs of meat could possibly make 36 golfball-sized meatballs. Be warned!
