Candy Cane Cookies III

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2004
These cookies are delicious... I really liked the crushed candy cane bits on top... though, I had a little trouble getting it to stick... even hot out of the oven... but if you put it on before they go in the oven, the will melt. If you are looking for a quicker method of making these cookies... I got tired of rolling out all the pieces towards the end of my baking, so I made one big log out of the two colors and put it in the freezer for about 15 minutes... then I cut off slices of the dough and baked them... they looked beautiful, and tasted just as good!!

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2011
Just when I was about to give up on making home made chocolate chip cookies, I found this recipe! Thank you Debbi!!! ***Just wanted to add a note after making them again!! This time I made half a batch. Used Butterscotch pudding, added 1/2 a tsp. salt, doubled the vanilla and added a splash of milk. You don't really taste the pudding, it just gives it more flavor!! I think the salt helped with that too! Also got rid of that "boxed" taste. Love this recipe!!!***

Poached Fish with Cucumbers

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2009
The flavor was good, but it was too bland. I was excited when I saw this recipe, because I had all the ingredients on hand. The cucumbers were interesting, and I did like them, just wish the flavor would have been more intense.

Fruitcake Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2010
I can only count on one hand the number of times I have had fruitcake that I liked. I don't even know why these cookies caught my eye, but I am really glad they did. They are delicious!! I did use raisins, dried pineapple, dried papaya and banana chips. I also used half finely chopped pecans and half walnut chunks. That really gave it a nice contrast in texture and flavor. I will definitely make these cookies again!!!

This recipe was excellent. I also added some chopped toamatoes just before adding the white wine. To finish it off I sprinkled on some finely shredded mozzarella and some fresh grated romano. A great taste of summer any time of year!!

Slow Cooker Cranberry Roast

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2012
This recipe was great!! I did not need to add the butter and flour. I served it with Kluski noodles and the sauce was great on top! Turned the slow cooker to high for 4 hours, but I am sure it would have been even more amazing on low for the full 8 hours. We ate up the leftovers with a big smile!! Will definitely make this again.

Banana Pancakes I

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2010
Have made these a few times now. I like to add a little vanilla and a dash of nutmeg. These are great when you spread on some peanut butter and top with syrup. My toddler loves when I top with peanut butter and mini marshmallows!!

Pistachio Crusted Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2011
This recipe was great!! I used an egg and some ground mustard instead of the Dijon. I made a dipping sauce like others suggested but I used Fig Preserves mixed with rice wine vinegar and orange juice, simmered and reduced with a pat of butter added after it came off the heat. My husband said I should bottle the sauce!!

Fruit and Cream Phyllo Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2010
It was really good!!! Definitely a solid 4 stars (if I could give it 4 1/2, I would!! I used blueberry pie filling, but otherwise followed the recipe. The only change I would make would be to either make the crust on top thicker, or leave it off entirely.

After-Christmas Turkey Potpie

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2009
Excellent use of leftover turkey from Thanksgiving!! I was out of green beans, so I used potatoes instead; just cut them into bite sized cubes and saute them with the other veggies. I also used both cream of mushroom and cream of potato. The whole family loved it!
