Grandma's Lemon Meringue Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2005
Wow, what an easy pie. Once the pie crusts are made and cooled, this takes literally 5 minutes to make!! It turned out SO good and I never even attempted to make one like this before. I dontl ike merangue topping, so I beat heavy whipping creme into a fluffy topping. Tried it today for Easter and everyone loved it!! 5 stars all the way. Will be in my recipe box for years!

Peanut Butter Bars I

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2005
I melted the chocolate on the stove and it was super easy. No cooking really. FAST treat if you are in the mood for something NOW (which at 9 months pregnant, I AM! But as they sat and tried them later, not so sweet to me. Kind of bland tasting. Dont think I will make them again. GOod fresh, I am mixed. Would maybe bring them to a get together, And would try to add REAL sugar, not powdered sugar. at least 1 cup of each i think that would make a big difference.

Flourless Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2005
GREAT COOKIE! I did add 2 tbs of flour to these and I tried them as the recipe says, they are still better when flattened by a fork. For some reason, they taste better when cooked that way. I added mini choc chips to them too and they were gone in a day! They stay real fresh too, i have made them more than once. SUCH a good quick recipe. In fact, Im gunna go make them now!! :)

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2005
SO GOOD! They were gone before they could cool! FOOLPROOF! and i DID NOT use a bread machine! I would only cook them 350 degrees for 20 mins. 25 max. 400 is too hot for these. ( i think) you CANNOT tell the difference in cinnabons from the mall and these. OMG my husband loves them I got the recipe yesterday and im making more tomorrow!!!

Sunday Best Fruit Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2004
WHAT A SALAD!! This is the best salad I have ever had. So far the pineapple juice acids havent turned anything brown, but next time I will add some lemon juice to be absolutely sure. So far its good but im making it for a large group for the first time. And with lemon juice you dont have to wait 10 minutes, you just douse it in it and go. Wow, i will make this for every family gathering from here on out. Its seriously that good. 5*****

White Cake Frosting I

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2004
WOWEE is all i can say! I went to the store to get the things to make a cake and forgot frosting! It was home made so i thought I would look on here, this site hasnt let me down yet! THIS RECIPE IS AMAZING AND SO EASY!!! I will NEVER buy frosting again. Listen guys, All I did was mix the powdered sugar and used ALL butter! (my shortening smelled funky so i tossed it out..) I used sugar, real butter, real vanilla extract, and the water. It was so good, my husband loved it too. Its easy to spread and tasted amazing. I just let the butter warm at room temp before whipping it with the mixer. thats it! if i could give 6 stars I would!!

Baked Oatmeal I

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2004
YUMMY! I saw this and it caught my eye because its something i could make at night while I had lots of energy and throw it in the oven in the morning! I LOVED this!! Its super easy and super good. Just like home made oatmeal. My husband liked it and best of all, my 14 month old son ate a while bowl too! (I omitted raisins because I was planning on giving it to him.) Try this recipe, definitely try it. I used an 8x8 square glass pan to soak it in all night and then baked it, cut into perfect squares, a little island in milk in your bowl. Perfect!

Joey's Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2004
These were really good, but I have had better peanut butter cookies. Actually I have made better ones myself. They arent real sweet to me, they have a good taste, but not as buttery as the recipe states. I am going to keep looking, myself. For the perfect recipe.

Bean Quesadillas

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2004
This is SUCH a good idea! Who would have put these two together!? We make it ALL the timenow, my husband LOVES these, its a meal too! Like a bean burrito and a cheese quesadilla. SO SO SO good, definitely try this one. I did it a little different, mainly using the idea, i just make a quesadilla cheese and smear refried beans in it. Fry it in a little butter on the skillet and put sour cream and salt and pepper all over it. Thats how we do it, its yummy!

Banana Crepes

Reviewed: May 21, 2004
This is the best recipe I have gotten off this website yet! I just made them for my family, and everyone was practically licking their plates! The recipe was seemigly easy since I am a crepe rookie. One tip, DO NOT USE PAM or any other cooking spray, your crepes will not turn out. I learned this early on in the recipe. Use little butter if any to use the crepes and roll the pan, they arent supposed to be like a pancake like my 1st ones were turning out to be. Supposed to be real thin, paper like. Also, I would somehow find out how to make more of the syrup the bananas are cooked in, this was amazing. Maybe double the amount of half and half? It would thicken up in no time. I will cut the bananas in halves then in pieces next time, so you didnt have a real long banana in your crepe. Good luck, you gotta try this, i told my husband i will cook this on Christmas Morning from now on. What a tradition!

Lime Chicken Soft Tacos

Reviewed: May 19, 2004
I don't know what I was expecting, but this was soooo good! Tasted very authentic, even my husband, the mexican food snob loved them! We have unusually hearty palates when it comes to hot food but this was HOT HOT HOT!!! DO NOT use HOT salsa with it, It is very spicy on its own. Another idea, i just made it for the 3rd time.. Instead of putting the chicken in the skillet and saute it, i put frozen chicken breasts in the oven at 350 for about an hour, then sliced them up, into chunks and THEN put them in the skillet. The tacos were SO better, much more moist and savory.

Shepherd's Pie I

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2003
Yikes, this was pretty gross.. I made it exactly how I was supposed to, the mashed potatoes made it edible for dinner, but definitely no seconds and no leftovers from this meal. Its still in the fridge and my husband makes fun of me asking if i will put it in his lunch. YUK!

Excellent Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2003
OH MY GOODNESS!! Sooo good! I have NEVER been able to make a good oatmeal cookie.. Using my new airbake pan, I made these, turned out beautifully. Only cooked for 12 minutes, even tho could have went for longer, so glad I did because of carry-over baking.. Put on my cooling rack and theyre perfectly browned on bottom and so delicious. I omitted cinnamon and used walnuts, usually dont like walnuts, but taste blends awesome in this recipe!!*****

Becky's Oatmeal Carmelitas

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2003
We have made carmelitas for years, its even in our church cook book. This is a great recipe, althought you do not have to get caramel candies... You can use caramel ice cream topping like smuckers, etc. For xmas I used the milky way kind of topping it was wonderful. Just a tip to save you a lot of time, who wants to unwrap all those candies, expensive too..

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2003
I was delighted to find this recipe, we had some Tilapia in the freezer and needed to use it up. My husband and I both hate fish usually and we both LOVED it!! I didnt have basil, but I used Dill and it was spectacular, I give it a 5 star, he rates it a "strong 4" very impressive for him and for fish in my house!! :)

Ground Beef Enchiladas

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2002
This recipe was delicious! My husband (very picky eater) rates this a 4 1/2 5 star dinner- very impressive for our house! I added chili powder to the soup mixture and onions. The corn tortillas definitely fell apart so if I was serving guests I would dip them in oil like the other review stated, that would have been helpful to roll them up. Made a lot too! *****

Carne Adovada

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2002
This was very good, although I was expecting it to taste more authentic, tasted jult like a roast to me. It was very good in a burrito with beans and all the fixins, this helped a lot with the taste better than on its own.

Brown Family's Favorite Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2002
I have made this recipe for years its the only pumpkin pie my family will eat now! One hint- you dont need to whip the egg whites and it turns out the same, very fluffy and raised. I have always used deep dish pie crusts, makes one very full and nice, I dont use any nuts in the crumb topping.. make sure your butter is very chilled before you start using it, also, add 2 tablespoons more flour, seems to absorb and set better. Lastly, I cover the outside of the crust with foil, it bakes so fast with this recipe, can take it off 10 minutes before its done, but I use frozen crusts, so easier and just as good to me. You really cant mess this pie up, my husband even helps make it, its so easy. ****
