Steakhouse Wheat Bread for the Bread Machine

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2014
I followed the recipe exactly, and it turned out really well! Good texture and flavor, as others have mentioned. I was suspicious at first due to the instant coffee and cocoa in the list of ingredients, but I added them and was really pleased with the end result. I will be using this recipe again!

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2012
Really simple, easy, and delicious. I started with four frozen chicken breasts, used the "Healthy Request" cream of chicken soup, and used chicken broth for the additional liquid instead of water. I added the biscuit dough dumplings two hours before serving. I decided that one can of biscuit dough would be enough, but I was wrong -- I could barely see any dumplings when it was done! Next time I will use both cans of biscuit dough for the dumplings.

Scalloped Potatoes II

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2012
Made this tonight, and thought it was really, really good! As per other reviews, I made the butter and flour into a roux, then added the milk and cooked it just until it started to get thick. (I used unsalted butter, and added a sprinkle of Mrs. Dash to the sauce since my mother is on a low-sodium diet.) Topped it with cubes of lower-sodium ham and flakes of Parmesan cheese and baked as directed. The creamy, rich flavor really surprised me!

Bratwurst and Shrimp Boil

Reviewed: May 13, 2012
This was even more delicious than I hoped it would be, and based on the reviews I read, I had pretty high hopes! I followed the recipe exactly with one exception...I quartered the red potatoes to make sure they cooked completely. It was easy and really tasty...a great summer meal! (Update -- I recently scaled up this recipe to feed a group of 20, cooked in a 15-gallon "jambalaya" pot over an open fire. Everyone *loved* it. The feedback I got was to use more bratwurst and bigger shrimp, so if your group is mainly meat eaters, plan accordingly!)

Amy's Sausage Apple Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2011
Tried this out at a pot luck dinner last night, and it got great reviews! I liked it, too...wasn't sure at first how those ingredients would go together, but I do know that I like apple and pork dishes, so I thought I'd give it a whirl. Glad I did! This time I used pre-cooked sausage crumbles, next time I'll fry up my own ground sausage and maybe bake it a few minutes longer (30 minutes was not enough time for the heavy stoneware pie plate I used).

Sarah's Banana Bread Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2011
Maybe I needed to use three larger ripe bananas...not a really strong banana flavor, but good muffins all the same! They were done in 25 minutes, so keep an eye on them while they're baking.

Slow Cooker Fruit, Nuts, and Spice Oatmeal

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2010
Really tasty! I made it with apple cider instead of water, as others have suggested, but I won't next time. It was good, but you couldn't taste the other ingredients over the apple flavor, and I think this made it almost too sweet as well. I did have some problems with scorching on the bottom (had the crock pot set on low), but I used a crock pot liner, so cleanup was easy.

Easy Microwave Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2010
I added the extra sugar and cocoa as other reviewers have recommended. It's not the best chocolate cake I have ever made, but for a quick two-serving treat, it's pretty good!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2010
I'm not a master pie baker, but this recipe was really easy, and it made the best apple pie I have ever tasted (even if I do say so myself). I didn't even read the recipe correctly...I didn't cook the butter/sugar mixture long enough before pouring it over the apples...but it still made a truly outstanding pie.

Make-Ahead Turkey Gravy

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2009
This was almost the best part of this year's Thanksgiving feast...no waiting until right before dinner to make the gravy and hope it turns out okay. This is easy, convenient, and SO flavorful! I used four GIANT turkey wings, which seemed to be enough for this recipe. I also took one reviewer's suggestion and made a roux with the butter, flour, and some of the chicken stock and added it at the end. I made it first thing in the morning, and kept it hot in a crock pot until our mid-day dinner.

Campbell's® Tuna Noodle Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2009
Fixed this as per the recipe, but like other readers have commented, it was a bit bland. Might have to try using a can of cream of celery soup for one of the cans of cream of mushroom, and maybe some pepper to this recipe if I use it again. The sour cream suggestion sounded good, too. Also will cut back a bit on the peas...two cups was too much.

Chicken Eugene

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2008
You can decrease the saltiness by rinsing the dried beef really well in a colander before adding it to this dish. Next time I make it I'm also going to try low-sodium cream of mushroom soup. Otherwise, my husband and I love this dish!

Slow Cooker Sweet Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2007
I tried this today for a post-Thanksgiving potluck at work. I didn't have any eggs, so I had to leave those out. It doesn't seem to have affected the outcome too much, though...so far it's getting rave reviews! I did as others suggested and doubled the pecan topping.
