About this Cook
I'm a working mom who's children are all now in college. I live with my husband of 29 years. I work at a factory in the packaging department. I have 3 children and 1 granddaughter. I enjoy spending times with my family and cooking for them.
My favorite things to cook
I like to bake and make quick and easy meals that make people think you've spent alot of time on them!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Our family traditions include baking & cooking Czech foods. I love to bake Kolaches! I also like to bake and decorate birthday cakes for my family.
My cooking triumphs
I've had many people tell me how good my kolache are.
My cooking tragedies
When we were first married, back in 1977, I was going to make a my new husband a wonderful roast beef dinner, complete with mashed potatoes and gravy. The roast and mashed potatoes turned out great, but the gravy was...very bad to say the least! It had absolutely no flavor and was full of lumps! It looked and tasted awful. My other tragedy was when I made my Kolache for the very first time. I didn't know that hot water would "kill" the yeast and my dough never raised. I didn't give up hope on the dough not raising and continued on with the recipe. When they were baked they resembled little clay targets that trap shooters shoot at. We licked the filling out of the kolache and threw the kolache out to our farm cats and they wouldn't even eat them! But, I've learned from my mistakes and now make great gravy and good Kolache!

Chocolate Cornstarch Pudding
I made this recipe for the grade school where I cook. The kids absolutely loved it! They told me "Make this recipe more often!" I did substitute 1/2 of the white sugar for brown sugar as was suggested by another review. It had a very creamy texture and an absolutely wonderful chocolatey taste! While the pudding was cooling I did lay Saran Wrap directly on top of it to prevent the "skin" from forming on it.
