Absolutely fantastic! Our family (esp. the kids) seldom eat beef and this loaf has got everyone wanting a second serving, I ran out as I only made half the recipe.
Like other reviewers, I sautee the onion with a bit of garlic first. I used red onion but don't think it would make a difference. I used double the amount of egg (simply because half a recipe is 1/2 egg, which would leave the other half useless). I also added a sprinkle of fresh chopped spring onion and 1 stick celery (chopped) in the loaf mixture. For breadcrumbs I just chopped up 2 slices of wholewheat toasted toast in a food processor.
The sauce is the highlight. Like other reviewers, I doubled the amount of sauce, and it came out very juicy.
