Slow Cooker Green Beans, Ham and Potatoes
Not sure how anyone could give this a bad review. It's a basic, easy recipe that yields delicious results. Not fancy but everyone loves it. I usually make these on the stovetop and have added ham, ham hocks, smoked turkey legs, bacon, and even kielbasa - all are equally tasty. I think adding more salt than this recipe requires is key, but then again the poster DID say she kind of just throws stuff in there which is what I also do.

Fried Plantains
This is more of a technique than recipe, but it's great to see it on AR for those who are unfamiliar to delicious plantains. It's key to use plantains that are black or almost black because they carmelize so much better. I just put a bit of oil in a skillet, slice the plantains on an extreme bias (so they are like extremely slanted "coins) , and fry on each side until a deep brown. I sprinkle them with kosher salt and that's it. It's a perfect sweet/salty combo that's simple yet yummy.

My Best Clam Chowder
This recipe is fairly simple yet the results are amazing. I was a little skeptical of the vinegar but it adds a richness and no vinegary taste at all. I've started to use this trick in many other creamy soups. After making this just once my family was hooked and begs me to make it over and over. The only change I've made is to use 1% milk or even fat-free evaporated milk in place of the cream to lighten it a bit - can't tell the difference. Perfect for dreary, cold days but I've also made it in the summer! Grab some crusty bread and you're set!
