Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2010
I make this all the time and it turns out perfect every single time. Bring it to a full boil while stirring. Reduce the heat to low/medium so that it's still bubbling a little bit. Let it bubble for 8 minutes. When after the 8 minutes, drip a tiny bit into some cold water, if it floats to the bottom and turns in a little ball, it's ready. That's it. The soft ball stage seems strange but it works. Then add the peanut butter and butter and stir it until you can see the scraps on the bottom of the pan, it means it's starting to get thick, pour it in the pan before it gets too thick.

Jam Filled Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2007
Really good, you don't have to use 2 egg yolks, you can use one whole egg. Very pretty with different types of jams, these are like a shortbread if you use real butter. The ingredient amounts are perfect for rolling into a ball. I also put a bit of vanilla in this recipe. I put vanilla in everything I bake even if the recipe doesn't call for it, vanilla is a must!!

Blueberry Buckle

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2007
July/07, This is really good, should be made with fresh blueberries though and it won't turn out so juicy. I don't understand how other people make changes to the recipe then base their starts on their changes, that has always baffled me. I used real butter instead of shortening. Quite a few viewers decreased the amount of flour to 1 1/2 cups but you don't have to, you just have to increase the milk to 3/4 cup then the batter isn't so thick :-) Thanks for the recipe, it's wonderful and smells so good when baking. I am a Nova Scotia girl and there is a little place in Nova Scotia that is the blueberry capital of the world called Oxford.

Banana Oat Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2007
These are very good, make sure when you bake them, they turn nice and dark brown, that way they are really good. Chopped nuts always give them a nice flavour as well!

Cherry Pound Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2006
Really really good cake, I've been baking this recipe for years. You know, it's really nice to sprinkle some chopped pecans on the bottom of the greased pan before you add the cake mixture, the pecans show on the top of the cake and makes it extra special, especially at Christmas time.

Sweet and Sour Chicken II

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2006
This recipe is really good, here's a little hint. Instead of the flour for the thickening, add about 2 tlbs. of cornstarch to 3/4 cup of ketchep, mix it up well until there are no lumps and pour the ketchep mixture in the hot sauce, it's thickens nicely and ketchup is a must in sweet and sour sauce I think. I added lots of chopped different colour peppers and onions. Yummy over rice.

Aunt Cora's World's Greatest Cookies

Really good, but mine spread more than in the picture, I wonder why? These are very tasty and the right consistency. I will make them again. I always add a touch of vanilla to all my cake and cookie recipes.

Garden Veggie Pizza Squares

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2005
This is really yummy. Chop the veggies small and push them into the cream cheese mixture. Use only a small portion of the dry salad mix. Doesn't have to be rance, can be any kind. Be nice to take for a Christmas party when every one brings something to munch on!! Will make it again.

Happy Birthday Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2005
This is the best birthday cake in the world and I have made a lot of cakes. Use real butter if you can! It rises beautifully and is of perfect texture. I used a cream chees icing. One 8 oz. block cream cheese, 1/2 cup marg. 1tsp. vanilla and about 4 cups icing sugar. YUMMY!! Thanks for the recipe. Susan from Nova Scotia, Canada

Blueberry Coffee Cake I

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2005
I got quite a chuckle over the lady who submitted a review on June 5/05. I have this cake in the oven now so am not sure how it will turn out. I think you need to add 2 eggs instead of one because the batter is too dry when putting it in the pan. Way too much brown sugar mixture for the top of the cake so I added half over the blueberries in the middle of the cake. I sure hope it turns out. It smells good anyway!!!

Cream Cheese Squares

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2005
Oh my God - Are these squares ever delicious, can't believe how wonderful they are. I went to the store to get more ingredients to make them again on the weekend. These ones won't last very long in my house. I don't think you need 1/2 cup of melted marg. drizzled over them though, 1/4 cup was just perfect. Thanks for the awesome recipe. Chocolate Chip Pudding Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2005
These cookies are awesome!! I made a mistake and only put one egg in instead of two. The dough was a bit dry but I form the dough into large balls and flattened them a bit with a fork dipped in sugar and when they baked they turned out something like ginger snaps in appearance. They turned out perfect. Next time I make them I will only put one egg in again. Thanks for the great recipe. I used chocolate pudding power.

Classic Waffles

These are so good!!! Way better than the ones you buy at the store. I made 32 of them and have them in the freezer. We had them with stewed blueberries and whip cream but they are good with just a bit of margarine and some syrup. Thanks for the recipe. I am from Nova Scotia, Canada

Caramel Filled Chocolate Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2004
Just finished baking these and they turned out great!!! I cut down the amount of brown sugar to 1/2 cup instead of 1 cup. Really don't need all that sugar especially with the sweet caramel in the centre. I also cut down the cocoa from 3/4 cup to 1/2 cup and they were still chocolate enough. Scoop some dough on a spoon, put the caramel on the dough and blop some more dough on top of the caramel and form into as much of a ball as you can then place them on the cookie sheet, that way is easier and not as messy. I will definately make these again.

Old-Fashioned Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2004
This is a nice old fashion recipe without all the marshmellow and chip stuff in it. I had no trouble with mine burning, maybe the lady's burnt because she had it too high or used the wrong type of pot. The secret is to make sure you beat it long enough after the fudge has boiled. YUMMY!!!!

Oatmeal Peanut Butter Bars

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2004
These are awesome!! I also use flax seeds, seseme seeds, walnuts, raisins, wheatgerm, coconut and whatever I find in my cupboards to equal the two cups as called for which makes them extra healthy for my family. They won't fall apart if you let them set until they are completely cooled, then they slice nicely, they are great!!

Dessert Pizza

Reviewed: May 11, 2004
This was really good, I made my own sugar cookie dough (had enough left over to freeze and make 3 more) I used a glass pie plate, 1/2 block of cream cheese, 1/8 cup sugar and 1/2 tub dream whip. I topped it with drained mandarin oranges and chopped up pieces of honeydue melon. YUMMY
