Chewy Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: May 4, 2003
Hm..out of the oven it was more cakey than "chewy" in the middle and then they dried out after a while, but they still tasted pretty good - crunchy and all. I believe it was because I chilled the dough so it wouldn't be so sticky. I also added a pecan half also with cinnamon-sugar on the top for a bit of decaration. They look pretty, but the texture leaves much to be desired.

Lemon Pudding Cake I

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2003
Mmmmm. Very summer/spring. I suggest to all to follow the directions exactly - my mistake was that I thought the batter a bit too runny, so I added about 1/4 cup more sifted flour...the result - not a lot of pudding at the bottom. Also - I used a rectangular pan instead of the traditional square (it looked like a lot of batter) - maybe the square would have worked better. Other than that - excellent. Needs a little whipped cream, but otherwise, very good.

Pralines

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2003
it was okay - yet I think I added a bit to much butter, maybe a tablespoon or two more..they turned out rather buttery..I followed a reviewers advice of the ice bath for about half of them, but they weren't as good as the other half which were partially cooled and then spooned on the sheet. It would also have been better if I had toasted the pecans first..but, they're still good! - for ice cream, cheesecakes, etc. Nothing beats the old-fashioned Louisiana pecan pralines though - mmmmm-mmmmmmmh.

Apple Spice Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2003
It was quite good - my friends and I ate it up very quickly - a little whipped cream made it wonderful. I grated half the apples and diced the rest. Very yummy.

Sticky Buns II

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2003
it was pretty good. of course I had to adapt it to meet what I had in the kitchen - so I fault the missing two stars to that. if I only had some items it would've turned out better.

Creamy Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2003
Simplicity in itself! I've never made rice pudding (or any other pudding before), but found myself craving it one day, so I got the easiest looking recipe and here we are! Now - I really abhor raisins so I left them out, and added half a teaspoon of cornstarch to thicken it up a bit since it needed to be a bit thicker. But, I believe taste is subjective so, take my word for it, an excellent recipe. (Oh, another thing, short-grained rice really makes a difference, at first I used long-grained and it just didn't taste right..the texture, etc.) ~Angela
