Chicken or Turkey Tetrazzini Deluxe

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2010
Very nice flavor. Worth the extra effort. There was a little too much liquid in the recipe as written; next time I will eliminate the 2 cans of water. Someone said to skip the sherry...don't do it. The sherry adds a nice extra depth of flavor. Big time kid pleaser too! Thanks for the wonderful recipe!

Grilled Tilapia with Mango Salsa

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2010
I ended up sauteing the fish after marinating for only 45 minutes. It was absolutely delicious. This marinade is a keeper!

Tangy Slow Cooker Pork Roast

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2009
The roast was tender after 7 hours on low in the slow cooker...that was the only good thing. And that would happen no matter what. The flavor in the sauce just don't compliment pork. Sorry. I won't make it again.

Apple Dumplings with Rich Cinnamon Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2009
Excellent authentic apple dumplings. Don't settle for that popular recipe calling for Crescent Rolls and Mountain Dew. This is the real deal and blows away that recipe. A slightly tart apple (like Granny Smith) provides a nice balance to the sweet sauce and filling. Yum!

Country Apple Dumplings

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2009
Based on the previous reviews and ratings, I thought this was going to be the very best. But deep down, I knew the recipe just didn't sound right. I made this recipe exactly as written. I was right...this is too good to be true. There is way too much dough wrapped around the small amount of apple. And, the citrus flavor of the soda is overwhelming. And, it's expensive and so not worth it. I'll stick with the old fashioned method.

Chicken Pot Pie III

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2009
I was worried this Chicken Pot Pie would be bland, but went ahead with directions as written. I was right. It's pretty boring as written. I think some sauteed onions and garlic would do wonders for this recipe. However, it's basic, easy and tastes pretty good for a soup based recipe.

Grandma Ople's Apple Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2009
Sorry Grandma Ople. The extra fat (1/2 cup butter) in the filling is just not necessary. The apple flavor is almost second to the butter/sugar taste. It's just not a five star recipe, IMO. The inside is soupy (and I followed the directions exactly as written). My advice to anyone looking for a delicious apple pie is to stick to an old fashioned sugar/flour/cinnamon/apple filling and you won't be disappointed...as I was in this recipe.

Company Casserole

Delicious! Don't be scared to try to curry. It makes this dish! I used all ham and it was yummy. Next time, I will mix in the sauce with the other ingredients and cover with parm.

Ham Chowder

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2009
I didn't have rosemary or leeks so left those ingredients out. This soup is very good with lots of flavor and the texture is very nice. Just a warning to those who might wish to thicken up the soup with potato flakes or mashed potatoes: this will change the velvety smooth, creamy texture to a coarse, grainy texture. I tried it and regretted it from the moment it hit my tongue.

Sara's Soy Marinated and Cream Cheese-Stuffed Salmon

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2007
It was just okay, in my opinion. I liked the idea of the cream cheese/green onion stuffing, but the result wasn't really anything special. The return wasn't worth the extra effort. However, the marinade was good.

Pumpkin Muffins II

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2007
These muffins had a good taste, but were very cakey - not what I consider a great dense muffin. I made some plain, with raisins and with chocolate chips. I definnitely recommend adding raisins or chocolate chips because the plain ones were, well, plain. I won't make these again.

Quick and Easy Alfredo Sauce

Awesome recipe. Followed the recipe exactly as written. It was smooth and yummy and just the right consistency. I think the key is to whisk the entire time and wait until the cream cheese and butter are completely incorporated before slowly adding the milk.

My Amish Friend's Caramel Corn

Awesome recipe! One tip...after the butter (can use margarine), brown sugar, corn syrup and salt are boiling, you can let it boil for 4 minutes (actually 4 will do) without stirring.

Pie Crust III

I've been making a similar version for years. Only I add 1 t sugar and 1 t salt into the flour and combine with a fork. Next, stir the oil and ice water (7+ T) until creamy, then pour over flour mixture. You can also pat it into a pie plate to avoid rolling.

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies IV

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2005
I followed the recipe exactly and these cookies just aren't good. Typically, you cream the butter and sugar, then add the egg. This recipe has a different order, which I followed, but adding the flour before the eggs just didn't work for me. The cookies were flat and tasteless.

Blueberry Cream Muffins

True, these muffins are moist. But they are also inedibly greasy (1 cup of oil seems like a lot). And I followed the recipe exactly as written...I did not overbeat. Beware.
