What Joey K has to say!

That is right folks I am trying to round you all up for a fun in the sun day on one of New Jersey's finest beaches.
On June 1 st some where around 1 pm Bill and I and with any luck Madeline plan to be sitting on Sunset beach in Cape May with Shorecook and Mr Shorecook sipping my Ice tea and meeting all of you.
Atlantic City had been mentioned as a place to gather but the more research and looking around I did it just seemed that AC didn't really fit our needs. AC is expensive even if you never step foot in a casino, it really isn't family friendly and sense most of the feed back I got was that most people could do a day trip easier then a weekend, I figured finding a less expensive place to spend the day that was family friendly would help even more.
Sunset Beach is the southern most point of New Jersey, a pretty clean beach of sand with stone, there is free parking, gift shops, the beach, miniature golf, the look out tower, the evening flag lowering ceremony and the grill. With in 30 minutes of the beach is the ZOO, as well as Wildwood and its awesome boardwalk.
I have links with maps for you but you really can't get lost. Just get your self on 9 or the parkway south and take it to the end get on 109 south and just keep driving no turns even though GPS makes it look that way the rd changes but you don't, just drive until you are sure you went the wrong way and all of a sudden you either stop or drive into the ocean. It is that easy to get to this beach. It was the same time for me to get there as to AC but I am guessing for those coming from the North would be about 30 or 40 minutes more.
There will be traffic, take your time and be safe you will be there before you know it. The parking is free but as with birds the early car will be closes to the beach. There is a rest room there as well as a place  to get food. I saw nothing prohibiting picnic baskets, ball playing or Frisbee, Don't forget your sunsreen, sun glasses, something to sit on and what ever beach shade you use. If it rains we will still gather under the roof of the Grill and discuss our options then.
If you are thinking you might like to stay over there are some very cut little hotels in cape may as well as Wildwood, I would however advice you to make reservations now if your plan is to stay over. Also on 9 with in 30 minutes of the beach are came grounds all calling them selves resorts and most having either cabins or rv rentals.
I would like to get an idea of how many people think they are, may, might, want to but just don't know,as well as nope I can't make it. I will save as much space on the beach as I can but an idea of how much space I need would be helpful.
chachijoan@comcast.net  that is me feel free to contact me if you wish  http://www.njsouth.com/Sunsetbeach.htm   This link gives you much better information then I do.
Here is the map link not that you will need it.
I put together a collage photo for you I had a hard time getting any photos at all between Madelines melt down and Mom just being Mom. I know they are not the best photos I have ever taken but they give you an idea of the meeting place.
I will be there rain or shine and I am hoping the first ever New Jersey Round up will a blast. I see all the fun had out on the west coast and wonder how come it is so easy for them to get together and then it dawns on me I am sure the first few round ups were not easy either, rounding up the people getting to know one another not to mention finding the perfect place to meet for the first time. Not patting myself on the back ( Much) but I think I have found the perfect first date place, so now it is up to you. All you have to do is show up and let the fun begin.
Just a fun fact this New Jersey round up will kick off the seasons round ups an send it rumbling to the west stopping first I believe in the Buck Eye state.
Here is hoping I see you there!

hi joan. the southern/redneck round-up is in september probably middle to end of month. try and make it. we need a yankee rep! sounds like a blast, it is a leap of faith, but folks believe me round-ups are terrific things! the redneck round-up lasts a week. many folks stay all week...so we claim the longest-held round-up, but we are mostly southern and lazy :)

About Me
I am married I work part time in a flower shop. have 1 grandchild and 1 son.I like to cook, sew, make soap and I love the ocean.
My favorite things to cook
I love making fried foods,it is not so healthy for you but the flavor and juciness of fried food can't be beat.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Hands down has to be the Thanksgiving meal. The whole thing from the turkey to the pumpkin pie.
My cooking triumphs
Gravy! I am now the Queen of gravy but that wasn't always so.Lumpy was the least of my problems. For years I would buy the gravy in a jar,not any more I got determined and I mastered the art of gravy.
My cooking tragedies
Well I had many many gravy tragedies but I have had more baking bloopers then gravy.I can't seem to manage a cake from scratch, you can either use it as a clay brick or as saw dust on the floor,so I leave cake baking to others.
