That is right folks I am trying to round you all up for a fun in the sun day on one of New Jersey's finest beaches.
On June 1 st some where around 1 pm Bill and I and with any luck Madeline plan to be sitting on Sunset beach in Cape May with Shorecook and Mr Shorecook sipping my Ice tea and meeting all of you.
Atlantic City had been mentioned as a place to gather but the more research and looking around I did it just seemed that AC didn't really fit our needs. AC is expensive even if you never step foot in a casino, it really isn't family friendly and
sense most of the feed back I got was that most people could do a day trip easier then a weekend, I figured finding a less expensive place to spend the day that was family friendly would help even more.
Sunset Beach is the southern most point of New Jersey, a pretty clean beach of sand with stone, there is free parking, gift shops, the beach, miniature golf, the look out tower, the evening flag lowering ceremony and the grill. With in 30 minutes
of the beach is the ZOO, as well as Wildwood and its awesome boardwalk.
I have links with maps for you but you really can't get lost. Just get your self on 9 or the parkway south and take it to the end get on 109 south and just keep driving no turns even though GPS makes it look that way the rd changes but you don't,
just drive until you are sure you went the wrong way and all of a sudden you either stop or drive into the ocean. It is that easy to get to this beach. It was the same time for me to get there as to AC but I am guessing for those coming from the North would
be about 30 or 40 minutes more.
There will be traffic, take your time and be safe you will be there before you know it. The parking is free but as with birds the early car will be closes to the beach. There is a rest room there as well as a place to get food. I saw nothing prohibiting
picnic baskets, ball playing or Frisbee, Don't forget your sunsreen, sun glasses, something to sit on and what ever beach shade you use. If it rains we will still gather under the roof of the Grill and discuss our options then.
If you are thinking you might like to stay over there are some very cut little hotels in cape may as well as Wildwood, I would however advice you to make reservations now if your plan is to stay over. Also on 9 with in 30 minutes of the beach are
came grounds all calling them selves resorts and most having either cabins or rv rentals.
I would like to get an idea of how many people think they are, may, might, want to but just don't know,as well as nope I can't make it. I will save as much space on the beach as I can but an idea of how much space I need would be helpful.
Here is the map link not that you will need it.
