Me and My Allrecipe

I am a self proclaimed recipe hound. I sniff them out as happily as any dog points out a bird in the field. I am more likely to use a recipe as to create a recipe. You are never going to see me winning the Pillsbury Bake off  or even the Philadelphia cream cheese contest. You will see me however try many of those recipes. I guess I am the reason why recipes are written.
Over the years I have collected many many cook books and made a few as well with all my cut out recipes from newspapers and magazines. In the last 3 years I have discovered recipe web sites. Goodness so many recipes so little time. I enjoy all the web sites I have joined, each and every one of them gives me something different and fun.
I joined my first club about 3 years ago or so and while I was having a blast on that sight joining discussions and getting to know the men and women that submitted all the very good recipes I was reading  as well as sampling. I still couldn't help but notice that when in the discussions people would ask for a recipe, like does any one know a good recipe for Banana cream pie for instance, there would alway be some one who would reply I found this recipe on Allrecipe.com and it was so good and there would be a link to follow or a name to look up. No matter how common or rare or how exotic the ingredient a recipe could be found on Allrecipe .com.
So as I became more familiar with the computer I found my self typing in the search bar Allrecipe. I didn't join up right at first. To be honest I found Allrecipe hard to use. I could not figure out how to easily navigate around this site. This is mostly due to limited computer skills and the knowledge to look on the right sections of the page to find what you seek. I kept returning no matter that it frustrated me and at times I did indeed feel like the dumbest kid in class, because each time I returned I learned a little more and saw the pot of gold waiting for me at the end of the rainbow in the form of what looked like endless recipes.
I have become much much better at navigating around this site and have learned that my pot of gold contained much more then recipes, The contest, the Buzz(I Love reading the buzz),Blogging, and so much more. I know I sound like a commercial but it is true there is so much to see and do in this web site.
When I found the brand recipes not just member submitted recipes I knew I was home and I would always think of Allrecipe as My Allrecipe. I still struggle here and there figuring things out in this web site,I just think of that as a bonus because as I figure out how to do this and that not only do I find great dishes to prepare I learn a little more about how to use and what I can do with my computer.

Great blog, Joey K! Yeah, there's nothing like AR. I'm not a professional cook, so I trust the reviews from folks like me. Now, I'm so spoiled, I don't buy anything online without reviews! Like you, playing around on the AR site helps me discover new things all the time. The more I use the Menu Planner, the easier it gets!

About Me
I am married I work part time in a flower shop. have 1 grandchild and 1 son.I like to cook, sew, make soap and I love the ocean.
My favorite things to cook
I love making fried foods,it is not so healthy for you but the flavor and juciness of fried food can't be beat.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Hands down has to be the Thanksgiving meal. The whole thing from the turkey to the pumpkin pie.
My cooking triumphs
Gravy! I am now the Queen of gravy but that wasn't always so.Lumpy was the least of my problems. For years I would buy the gravy in a jar,not any more I got determined and I mastered the art of gravy.
My cooking tragedies
Well I had many many gravy tragedies but I have had more baking bloopers then gravy.I can't seem to manage a cake from scratch, you can either use it as a clay brick or as saw dust on the floor,so I leave cake baking to others.
