Well we are 4 months into the year 2012,many of us posted blogs and buzzes about the resolutions we were making for the year. I posted that I wanted to try new foods and styles of cooking as well as get healthier in my cooking to help the husband lose weight.
In the past 4 months I have done pretty good at staying away from my frying pan unless I am using it in the oven. Bill has lost a few pounds but seems to be at a stand still at this moment.I am learning to give him smaller portions and most importantly to not hand over my plate for him to finish for me. I am trying to give myself a smaller plate as well so there is nothing for Bill to finish for me.
As for trying new things I have stuck with it a little and have tasted lobster, crab legs and fresh water white fish. Yep I still don't like them. We also changed up our normal trip to MI, we went at a different time of the year spring over winter, and we chose to stay in a different area of MI. That was a change up that more then payed off. We had a great time saw amazing things like The American Bald Eagle sitting proudly in a tree top giving a group of pesky crows a hard time. I had never seen an Eagle not in captivity I thought it was so cool to watch this Eagle knowing that when he wanted he could just up and fly away.We even came back home with suntans if you can imagine such a thing happening in March in MI.
Well then I wonder how is everyone else doing at keeping the resolutions you made for yourself?Have they been worth keeping?
For me I think so far it has been worth the effort and I will keep on following the resolutions I made for me.

I don't make New Year resolutions but it is nice to know you have done so well. We use salad plates as our dinner plates. The only time the dinner plates are brought out are for holidays or when we have dinner guests. It is too easy to over eat with the larger plates. I wish you the best for continued success.

About Me
I am married I work part time in a flower shop. have 1 grandchild and 1 son.I like to cook, sew, make soap and I love the ocean.
My favorite things to cook
I love making fried foods,it is not so healthy for you but the flavor and juciness of fried food can't be beat.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Hands down has to be the Thanksgiving meal. The whole thing from the turkey to the pumpkin pie.
My cooking triumphs
Gravy! I am now the Queen of gravy but that wasn't always so.Lumpy was the least of my problems. For years I would buy the gravy in a jar,not any more I got determined and I mastered the art of gravy.
My cooking tragedies
Well I had many many gravy tragedies but I have had more baking bloopers then gravy.I can't seem to manage a cake from scratch, you can either use it as a clay brick or as saw dust on the floor,so I leave cake baking to others.
