Frosty Strawberry Squares

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2014
LOVE it!!!!!like homemade ice cream cobbler... Super delicious- it's like a refreshing tangy slightly strawberry thin cobbler. The only few things I would tweak is that it really doesn't make that much filling- I wanted/expected really thick bars- but its more like a thin even layer. Also I think it's not enough strawberries for me. Next time I will add more strawberries or some strawberry nectar. Also -I didn't get the pretty pale pink color others did; which kinda bummed me out. I took a couple other suggestions and diced the berries thin/small, cut down on the lemon juice and I increased the crust by 1/2. I definitely recommend at LEAST a 1/2 increase- since I had difficulty covering it with even that amount- but I also wanted a double crust or sandwich feel. If you just want a bottom and sprinkled top adding the extra 1/2 should work. I also added vanilla to my whipping cream and I really like the added flavor. All in all next time I make it I will double the filling and double the crust and maybe even put in a smaller container. I think the 9 X 13 is not necessary. (but again I want thick filling) have fun with this recipe!!! oh and it's MESSY to make.

Mini Cheesecakes

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2014
I think the cake recipe is better suited to a full sized pie since the batter doesn't hold up very well it just kind of mushes. Also they need to be baked longer at least 20 minutes for the centers to not fall in- I topped mine with home made caramel- yum. Over all the flavor is ok.

Ooey-Gooey Cinnamon Buns

Reviewed: May 31, 2014
I experimented a bit- I really like substituting butter with coconut oil so I was exited to try. Everything went fine except the sauce & filling.(I split this recipe into 3 separate batches after the first proof (i.e. bread rising) My first batch with coconut oil instead of butter separated so had to dump it- the next caramel sauce and filling I did with butter and I used half a cup for both the filling and the topping sauce unfortunately I misunderstood the instructions and prepared my filling sauce the same way as the pan sauce-merely adding cinnamon-this resulted in a LOT of mess and most of the filling baked out:( so I used the rest of that as my topping sauce for the next batch. also the sauce on the first batch came out more like toffee than caramel :( started hardening even while still pretty hot. Also only needed to bake about 20 minutes- The next batch I spread softened butter onto the roll & covered in the sugar mix. they rolled up nicely, & filling stayed in place but I had the same problem with the sauce and adjusted cooking time again. The third I mixed the sugar mixture with a bit of softened coconut oil instead of melting it and used it like a paste for the topping which I spread over the tops and bottoms. for the filling I treated the coconut oil like the butter in the last one. the filling came out ok sauce not so much. Bottom line- I would NOT cook with the sauce and instead make caramel sauce separately with the addition of milk. base dough = awesome

Egg Noodles

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2012
I think the taste was great - however this was my first attempt at pasta making and it turned out strange. First- there was no time frame for letting the pasta "air dry" before cooking, second, while it was cooking it looked a lot like dumplings, it kind of always had a strange dumpling gooey biscuit like texture to it, and lastly this recipe should have included a what to look for when done paragraph. Ultimately the pasta was chewy yet strangely firm.. I boiled the noodles for a good 20 minutes.. and it was still chewy. Unfortunately that was the only thing ready and available to eat tonight.. so I am Hoping that they can be a little - or possibly a lot under-cooked and still safe to eat. I think the only reason why this recipe failed for me tonight was because I am too new to homemade pasta and don't know what to look for. I will try this one again after chatting with some pasta veterans :) If anyone would like to help me out it would be appreciated too :)

Mix-In-The-Pan Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2012
Deliciousness!!! Super easy Suuuuuper moist cake made w ingredients around the house. one thing I had to do was substitute the baking soda and lemon juice I halved the entire recipe and substituted baking soda and lemon juice with 2 teaspoons baking powder. my results are great but will have to make it the other way one day to really compare. I also kept the cocoa the same so I doubled that, it made the cake very darck and rich chocolaty. I did have some issue gtting it out of the pan but not enough to sy i'd rather mix in a dif bowl. - pretty fantastic for a pretty much vegan cake!!!! :)

Sweet Baked Onion Rings

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2012
this recipe was pretty great. I increased the heat as others suggested and I'm really happy that I did. the onion was perfect and the outer breading crunchy. two things to note- A -the outer breading was really thin.. Delicious but very thin. I think next time I will add more flour to the batter and try to get the breading thicker. B- Definitely NOT a very good recipe for beginners. its also a bit more time consuming than you'd think. if you're looking for a fast easy onion ring I suggest trying a different recipe. But if your willing to get messy, put the time in and have some prior knowledge of how breading works this is a fantastic option.

Dumplings

Amazing! super simple and didn't require any eggs. Worked perfectly with what I had available. I did have to water down my milk - ran out- and I converted Crisco shortening- but didn't seem to cause any problem.

Chicken In Basil Cream

Totally Delicious! I replaced the pimentos with Anaheim peppers and it was great. Also I really do not suggest using this with chicken strips or small pieces. Definitely for whole Chicken breasts.

The only thing i'd change is the amount of sugar.. the sauce was pretty sweet. Went great with a side of mashed potatoes.
