Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies I

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2014
These were good. I didn't have shortening so I used butter. I added a little extra flour and oats as well as 1/4 tsp cinnamon. Though I wish I had added more than that! Thanks for the recipe!

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2014
I don't know why I have overlooked this recipe for years because I assumed it wasn't as good as the reviews stated. Boy was I wrong! This recipe was outstanding and a great use of leftover holiday ham. I added about a cup of chopped baby carrots, extra onion, a few cloves of garlic. I also took the recommendation from other users and added a little cheddar cheese. I omitted salt as the ham and chicken bouillon made it salty enough. Delicious, simple ingredients, easy to make!!!

Balsamic Roasted Pork Loin

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2013
I liked this recipe and followed it, but also added garlic to marinade and onions and sweet potatoes in the roast. I really liked it, but wasn't blown away - perhaps I got high expectations due to the other reviews.

Simple Scones

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2013
This recipe rocks! So simple and quick and were a big hit at my baby shower. Agree with others that without a food processor this would be more difficult. One slight change after making one batch is that I moved the tray to the center rack. Thank you I will definitely make these again!

Slow Cooker Beef Stew IV

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2013
This recipe was good. A bit of prep work but worth it for the delicious, tender meat. Though I'd say don't forget garlic, that's a serious omission! Otherwise something was missing... Bay leaves or maybe more wine. Will make again, thank you for the recipe!

Spiced Butternut Squash Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2013
This recipe was good. Based on reviews, I subbed apples for potatoes and tripled the spices. Unfortunately I had no sherry and I will make sure to add it next time as something was definitely missing. I also sprinkled cinnamon on the leftovers and it definitely enhanced the flavor, so add cinnamon! If you all are looking for a more flavor in your BNS soup, check out the "Butternut Squash Soup with a Kick" recipe on this website.

Rice & Beans (Haitian Style)

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2013
Really good. I used canned beans and 2 cups chicken broth instead of bean water. Agree with other reviewers, it was way too salty (I used low sodium broth) and probably will go 1/8 tsp on the cloves next time. Otherwise this smelled wonderful, tasted great and was a perfect complement to our BBQ-ed Jamaican Jerk chicken. Thanks!

Red Velvet Cupcakes

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2013
These were good! The cake itself was amazing, moist and delicious. The frosting was good but I struggled with the consistency, as it was drippy and gooey, rather than light and fluffy, which I was hoping for. That may just be the reality with cream cheese frosting but maybe others have tips for how to improve this going forward. Thank you for the recipe!

Sweet and Spicy Stir Fry with Chicken and Broccoli

Reviewed: May 6, 2013
This was delicious and so easy. I tripled the sauce but otherwise followed the recipe. I think next time I will opt for fresh ginger. Thanks for the awesome recipe!

Cindy's Jambalaya

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2013
This was delicious and easy. I had to cook the shrimp separately because my husband doesn't eat them. I used Aidell's cajun sausage. Delicious, thank you for the recipe!

Chicken with Chipotle

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2013
This was delicious and easy. I took a tip from another reviewer and sauteed the chicken with half an onion and about 4 cloves of garlic. I added three peppers instead of two with a hefty dose of Adobo and it was just spicy enough. Served over rice with a salad and warm tortilla. Thank you for the recipe!

Curry Stand Chicken Tikka Masala Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2013
This was SO good. My only alteration was subbing half and half for heavy cream to cut down on fat. If I could give this recipe six stars I would. I will definitely be making this again. Thank you!

Devouring Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2013
Really good cookies! After the first batch, I took the suggestion of another reviewer and turned the temp to 350, baking for 12-13 mins and they were better. The cookies were delicious! But want to make them thicker. Ideas on how to do that are appreciated. Thanks for the recipe!

Sweet Potato Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2012
Really tasty chili. I made a few small changes: I used three cans of Rotelo diced tomatoes and green chiles, one diced/seeded jalapeno, two cloves garlic and a tablespoon of brown sugar. I garnished with cheddar and low fat sour cream. A unique take on chili that I will definitely use again. Thank you for the great recipe!

Spicy Chicken Thai Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2012
This soup was great! I used two cans of light coconut milk and chicken breast and I don't think it compromised the flavor at all. The supermarket ran out of red curry paste so I used green. I did not get the level of spice that the recipe predicted (or that I wanted) so I added two jalapenos instead of one. Overall this soup was delicious. I served over rice noodles.

Chicken Fricassee

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2012
This was a tasty dish. I halved the recipe, used chicken breast tenders (so it would cook faster) and low fat spicy turkey sausage. I also used chicken broth instead of water. The spice level was hot, but not too hot for us! I will say that the recipe was lacking something. If I cook next time, I may add peppers at the end for some crunch. All and all a good recipe for a first time Cajun cook. Thank you!

Best Marinara Sauce Yet

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2012
Delicious! Upon another reviewer's recommendation, I decreased pasley to 1 TB and added 1 tsp basi. The sauce tasted great. Then I added ground turkey. Still good but the extra meat required more seasoning. Very good though!

Penne with Chicken and Asparagus

Reviewed: May 4, 2012
This was good, but I added half an onion, more garlic (no powder), red peppers and mushrooms, along with whole wheat penne. Light, healthy and tasty.
