White Peach Sangria

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2014
Very good! Added orange slices and used less grapes. Cut the sugar in half and added a little ginger ale right before serving.

Antipasto Squares

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2012
These are delicious! As other reviewers recommended I baked the bottom layer of crescent rolls for about 7 minutes before adding the filling. Made sure the peppers were dried between paper towels, as well as the ham. Baked for 25 min at 375 with foil and then 25 minutes uncovered. Everyone liked these & I will definitely make often. Quick & easy & so good - thanks for sharing!

Edible but not worth all the ingredients, in my opinion.

Risotto with Asparagus

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2011
This was the first time I ever made risotto. I found that it took a lot longer than 20 minutes to get the risotto fully cooked & also had to add more broth than the recipe calls for. The consistency was a little too thick and the risotto a little too crunchy for my liking. Also I think the Parmesan cheese ruined the taste. I loved the asparagus in the risotto however & will definitely try again, leaving out the cheese.

Chicken-Parmesan Bundles

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2011
I was preparing the recipe & realized that I didn't have the spinach but these were still good. Will definitely add spinach next time. Used fresh grated Parmesan cheese and a mixture of Mozzarella with Romano & Fontina. I think they would be great if the chicken was cut in to smaller pieces and served as an appetizer with the sauce on the side for dipping. I also added a little bit of chives to the sour cream mixture.

Creamy Strawberry Crepes

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2011
I used this recipe for the filling, but used the "Basic Crepes" recipe for the actual crepe. They were similar. Made a couple changes to the filling after reading reviews. I used only 1 cup of sifted confectioners sugar and I made the filling first and put in the fridge while preparing the crepes. Next time I think I will leave out the lemon zest & only add 1/2 tsp lemon juice. Used lowfat cream cheese. Also will increase the vanilla to 1 tsp. Very filling, but also very good!

1st attempt at making crepes. Turned out better than expected. I mixed wet ingredients first, then added the flour and salt after reading reviews.

Maine Lobster Lasagna

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2011
Made this with leftover fresh lobster tails. I found that there was not enough ricotta to make 3 layers so I would recommend using more of the ricotta mixture but much less of the shredded cheeses. I used jarred Alfredo sauce but I think it would be much better with homemade Alfredo. Very rich & filling. Too much cheese, even for lasagna. I think I will stick to Lazyman Lobster with leftovers. Family did not like. Ended up throwing away the entire leftover casserole dish the next day! Was disappointed after reading the great reviews. I guess it just was too rich for my family.

Mexican Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2011
Thought it needed a little more spice so I added 1/3 tsp cayenne plus a sprinkle of chili powder. Added 1/2 can diced tomatoes with peppers in addition to the salsa & added rice as others recommended. Not bad. Liked the tortilla chip topping browned with cheese.

Applesauce Pork Loin

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2011
Found the meat to be rather bland. Mostly tasted like applesauce on top of pork. The meat needs to be seasoned prior to topping with the applesauce mixture. I think I would add onion & garlic. I gave it 3 stars because the meat was really tender, but I don't think I would use this recipe again without adding to it.

Apricot Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2011
Nice recipe & so easy. The taste is somewhere between sweet & sour and bbq. I added a little orange juice to the mixture and also used a pork roast, not chops. Browned the roast and seasoned with garlic, salt, pepper & a little sage prior to baking in the sauce. I think it would be great to use as a marinade for grilled chicken. Next time I will use as a marinade prior to cooking and grill instead of bake. Thanks for sharing!

Fabulous Beef Tenderloin

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2010
Tried this on Christmas day. Used low sodium soy sauce and unsalted butter as recommended by other reviewers. Added shallots and mushrooms about 3/4 way thru cooking. Would recommend seasoning the roast prior to cooking. Very easy but not a favorite. 3 1/2 stars

Judy's Strawberry Pretzel Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2010
Really good! Family loves it. Pretzels are a little salty for the crust, in my opinion but it is still very good. I might do 1/2 pretzels & 1/2 graham crackers next time just to see if that cuts back on the saltiness. Used low fat cream cheese. I recommend putting fresh strawberries on top of the jello mixture also. Used 1/2 brown sugar & 1/2 white sugar and more pretzels for the crust. More like 2 1/4 cups.

Irish Cream Bundt Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2009
This cake is amazingly good! Followed the exact recipe for the cake except added extra pecans mixed with a little brown sugar and cinnamon in the bottom of the pan and more in the middle of the batter as well. I wasn't sure about the glaze ingredients so I used the butter, with confectioner's sugar, a little vanilla and milk instead of water. Still added the irish cream to the glaze & it was very rich and very good. Thanks for a great recipe that I will use again!

No Bake Peanut Butter Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2009
I brought this to a party. It was good but kind of soupy. It had partially thawed on the ride to the party so I kept it in the fridge for several hours before dessert was served, but it was still mushy and messy and sliding around in the pie dish. I think a little more peanut butter would be good also to give it a little more pb taste. But over all it had nice flavor.

Bourbon Whiskey BBQ Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2008
This sauce will be great for the BBQ, but don't do what I did and use it for ribs in the slow cooker! I didn't plan ahead and think about the fact that the alcohol can't burn off the same way in the covered slow cooker and the taste of the bourbon was overwhelming. I will definitely try it again, using it on the grill as recommended and will cut back the amount of bourbon a little too because it was really strong. Easy to make though. Looking forward to making it to use on some grilled chicken soon.

Honey Ribs

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2008
Very good & SO simple! I let them cook on low all day in the crock pot. I eliminated the water after reading other reviews. Also forgot the soy sauce but did add a little Worcestershire sauce. Once they were cooked I brushed on a tiny bit of honey BBQ sauce and broiled them, just to brown them. They are great either way though. Thanks for the recipe!
