About this Cook
I've always had a love affair with cooking and all things food related. My draw to it is commonsense; it's what brings people together and is the language of every culture when we can't communicate otherwise. Other than food, I'm currently a law student and have a wonderful family. My husband is my soul mate and my two adorable children are my life! I want to be a good role model to my children and to others as well. I try to live by the 'Golden Rule'.
My favorite things to cook
Everything. There is no particular rhyme or reason to what i'm drawn to cook or why. When I get the itch to make something, even if it's beyond my skill level and I have never made it before, I will go get ingredients and get in the kitchen. =) But if I had to classify my top things then it would have to be breads, desserts (though I don't have much of a sweet tooth!) and comfort foods.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving cooking! I love everything about that holiday for obvious reasons. I love the togetherness, the food, laughing in the kitchen, tasting food all day, leftovers. It's all so wonderful. Our tradition is to just be together and make dinner together. For my young family, I really involve my kids. I'll give them mixing bowls and spoons and let my older one (2 years old) crack the eggs, mix batter, measure all the ingredients and then let him tell everyone he made that particular item. Traditions are all about togetherness for me.
My cooking triumphs
1. Making croissants from scratch on a whim and having them turn out absolutely perfect. 2. making my mom's version of a difficult dish and having it turn out just like hers where my father could not tell the difference! =) happy moment!
My cooking tragedies
1. My attempt at making wild mushroom stuffed chicken roulades for my husband's boss and wife; one chicken breast was raw and his wife didn't notice and was going to eat it and I had to announce at the table that it wasn't cooked which made everyone take a closer look at their food. =( 2. Pressure cooker explosion my first time working with it. All the cooking liquid covered every wall in the kitchen and the ceiling. It took me hours to clean with no dinner to show for it.

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies
Saw this like an hour ago, and since that time I have already gathered ingredients, made it per the directions without changes or substitutions, baked them and ate them. Ok, ate 3 b/c they're still a bit warm. Sitting here writing the review b/c they're pretty friggin great. Give them a try if you were on the fence!
