Butternut Squash Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2012
Just tried this one. My hubs who hates squash loved it. As well as the toddler. It's a forgiving recipe. Went a touch light on the cream cheese, accidentally doubled the bouillon, and used sage instead of the marjoram that I didn't have. Absolutely will make this again... with a touch less bouillon (that made it taste a little veggie-dip-ish).

Poor Man's Pecan Pie

Easy. Delicious. Everything I expected. Received lots of accolades over this pie. Made no substitutions.

Quick and Easy Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2012
Followed it more or less. Made less in general. Didn't do a lot of measuring. I went a little light on the cream cheese, but put some in there. It was a BIG HIT. I made home made spinach and greens pasta, which my hubs wouldn't like, but the sauce was good enough to redeem the whole plate. He said this is a definite do-again. Thanks!

Chef John's Buttermilk Biscuits

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2012
Super easy. I added a touch more buttermilk and cheddar cheese shred, and made them as drop biscuits. According to the husband, these are the best biscuits I've made, yet.

I make it in the pot as a stew. Always use this recipe. Always a hit. 3rd year straight.

Colcannon

Even my skeptics today (St. Patty's Day 2012) were impressed and went back for heap tons of seconds. Good thing I made an extreme amount.

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2012
5 Star perfect pancake. This one is solid. I used buttermilk culture powder + water, and natural, raw cane sugar granules, coconut oil for the frying d/t it's higher smoke point.

Impossible Buttermilk Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2012
YUM!! My hubs has really mainstream (meat and potatoes, nothing special) preferences, so I wasn't sure about this. He loved it. I loved it. Perfect first time around. I did some substitutions. Lemon+whole milk for the butter milk. 1/2 c white sugar, 1/2 c brown sugar, 1/2 plus a little of white cake mix, and left the vanilla, eggs, and butter the same. My oven runs hot, and it took 33 min. Golden top. Texture slightly curdly, but not at all unappealing.

Mustard Sauce for Ham

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2012
It was good! I'd imagine it would be great on straight ham, like the picture indicates. It was too powerful for leftover ham bits and rotini. If serving with something less salty than a ham, I'd throw some salt in there.

Artichoke Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2011
I followed M. Howland's suggestion in cutting the mayo in half and substituting the other half with sour cream. Also, I added a tablespoon or two of heavy cream, as I was going to serve it on rice. My husband loved it and proclaimed it expensive restaurant food.
