I am Canadian but currently living in France on exchange. Love finding new things in the French grocery store and finding new cuisine but will admit that it is sometimes difficult to find all the things that are easily available in North America. Baking section in France est nul :(
My favorite things to cook
I love vegetarian dishes even though I am not a vegetarian and I love finding new ones to try out! I also love love love BAKING and desserts but try to tweak the recipes so they have a less sugar intake and are less fat. I am currently following WW so baking/desserts obviously aren't good to be making all the time.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmas roast beef with mash potatoes, gravy, and yorkshire puddings. She always made it THE BEST and will always remember our family dinners together.
My cooking triumphs
Did a full on turkey dinner with all the trimmings for a Christmas that I spent in England with friends when I could not be at home with family.
My cooking tragedies
First time cooking a 'tarte au fromage' in France with a french friend. This was early on in my year here and needless to say my french was not as developped as it is now. I didn't understand when he asked me to mix the eggs and the crème fraiche so I just poured it on top and we had to mix it in the pie and do what we could. Still tasted good though!
