Texas Caviar with Avocado

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2011
Very tasty, and I only eat black-eyed peas because it is "required" in my family to eat them every New Year's Day! My family loved it, too. The only change I made was to squeeze half a lemon on the avocado to keep it from turning brown.

Actually Delicious Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2010
These burgers are ACTUALLY quite delicious. Made the recipe exactly as written and threw them on the Big Green Egg. We are Texans but didn't miss the beef at all!

Ultimate Irresistible Granola

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2010
This is a great recipe that is easy to make your own. I used 6 cups of oats, 1 cup of honey and 1/2 a cup of maple syrup, flax seeds instead of sunflower seeds, and 1/2 a cup of unsalted butter instead of a cup of canola oil. I didn't have pecans, so I omitted that. We loved it.

Brick-Oven Pizza (Brooklyn Style)

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2010
This is the best pizza crust recipe I have tried, and I have tried MANY. I made the recipe exactly as written, and it was a hit with the entire family. Love this pizza.

Pumpkin Pancakes

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2009
The texture is good and they certainly look beautiful... But they lacked the yummy spiciness that I have had in other pumpkin pancakes. I would consider them edible. Will keep looking for a good pumpkin pancake recipe.

Vanilla Milkshake I

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2008
Mmmm.... simple and delicious. I used vanilla bean paste instead of vanilla extract for a stronger vanilla flavor.

Pizza Dough II

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2008
I thought the crust was a little sticky when I put it in to rise, but it turned out perfectly. Nice and crispy on the outside, and just chewy enough on the inside, although the toppings were a bit overdone. I froze the unused crust, and defrosted it overnight a couple of weeks later. This time, I pre-baked the crust for 10 minutes at 425, added sauce and toppings, and baked an additional 8 minutes. It was perfect this way.

Surprisingly delicious and incredibly easy. It was a hit with my toddler AND his parents. This is my new standard pizza sauce. Thanks for the recipe!

Iced Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2007
Really delicious cookie, but more like the top of a muffin than your traditional cookie. I took a previous reviewer's advice and added cinnamon to the icing. A new Fall favorite!

Cinnamon Maple Granola

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2007
Really good--a nice crunch for my morning yogurt! I used honey instead of the corn syrup, and added a tablespoon or two of wheat germ and ground flax seed to make it a little healthier. I also threw in some chopped dried cherries. I did not cook it nearly as long as the recipe suggests--MAYBE 25 minutes, and it was quite crispy.

Brown Sugar Banana Nut Bread I

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2007
This is pretty good, but not great. I will stick to my standard recipe for now. It is a lot better toasted with butter than it is plain.

Allie's Delicious Baked Dumplings

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2007
I turned the oven a little lower than suggested (400 for the first 15 minutes, 325 for the last 25), but otherwise made them exactly as directed. They are delicious and very impressive-looking. A big hit with my family!

Basic Cheesecake

Reviewed: May 15, 2006
The cheesecake cracked badly, and the crust burned. The flavor of both was good though, but I think adjustments need to be made to cooking temperature and length in order for me to try this recipe again.

Cherry Cobbler II

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2005
Very good, very simple. My husband loves it. I added about 1/4 tsp of vanilla and a few dashes of cinnamon to the batter to jazz it up a bit. Definitely serve this with with ice cream!

Little Meat Loaves

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2005
We loved these--especially the sauce. A few changes: I sauted the onions in olive oil before mixing in with the meat mixture, just enough to soften them up. Also, I used all lean beef. I put slices of bacon on top to add flavor and keep them moist. Great!

My husband and I really loved this dish, although it may not be the most kid-friendly. My 5 yr old niece was NOT impressed!

Brooklyn Girl's Penne Arrabiata

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2005
EXCELLENT dish... I made it with whole wheat penne and it was great. The only thing I would do differently is pound the chicken a lot thinnner than I did. My husband loved it as well, and it makes plenty!!!
