Garlic Cheese Flatbread

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2007
This was SO GOOD! I put fresh garlic in the dough, as others suggested. Plus, since so many people thought it would be good for pizza, we used it for that! It made the best pizza we've ever had - we'll never buy store-bought again!

Coconut Macaroons

These are fabulous and super-easy! I made a single batch, and then my husband had me make another double batch the next day! I drizzled chocolate over the second batch - yum!

Grandma Johnson's Scones

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2006
These are great! I wanted to make a scone-mix-in-a-jar to give as gifts this year, and didn't find one I liked. So I tried this one! I was worried about not being able to make the sour cream mixture (since the baking soda would already be mixed in the jar) and how that would effect the recipe. I just mixed in the dry ingredients, added the wet, and they still came out fantastic! Since I was experimenting, I only made half a recipe. I left out the raisins and added a generous tablespoon of cinnamon to compliment the apple butter we are also giving. I highly reccommend using cinnamon! So tastey!!

Slow Cooker Kielbasa Stew

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2006
This is really good! The kraut flavor is not too strong - just right. i also changed the order in which I layered the ingrediants in the slow cooker, putting the potatos on the bottom, 1/2 of the sausage next, then kraut, then the rest of the sausage, aplles, and then the onions. I also only used half of the potato called for. Great!!

Boudreaux's Zydeco Stomp Gumbo

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2006
This was great! A word of caution, though: check the ingredint list on your cajun seasoning before making this. The first time we made it, we used cajun seasoning that was almost pure salt - it ruined our gumbo. But the second time we used a better brand and it came out PERFECT! I'm making it again tonight!

Cuban Beans and Rice

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2005
Very tasty! I used black beans instead of the kidney beans, and added some cumin as well. I served this with the Cuban Ropa Vieja recipe from this site, and the two were perfect together!

Black Bean and Couscous Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2005
This was great! I've made it twice now, and per other suggestions I made a few changes. I doubled the dressing (except for the oil), added more lime, and added tomato. It was really good!

Lemon Sorbet

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2005
My husband and I made a large batch of this sorbet. We don't have a ice cream maker, but it turned out great. The only thing we will change next time is to zest the lemon peel. Our batch turned out a little bitter, and the finely diced peel was a little too chunky for our taste. But overall, it was quite good.

It may not be your typical cheesecake, but it is FANTASTIC! The only problem is that I hardly got to eat any - my husband ate the whole thing practically by himself!

This was great! I used canned artichokes instead of the marinated ones, and kalamata olives instead of the regular black ones. I served it with spinach tortillas and got rave reviews!

This is SO good! I wasn't able to add the parsley or pine nuts, but it still was great! Next time I will try adding grated carrot or other veggies. I can't wait to make this again!
