Brown Sugar Banana Nut Bread I

Reviewed: May 21, 2013
With the suggested change of adding 1/3 c. sour cream I would give it 4.5 to 5 stars! We like pecans and choc chips and 1/4 tsp nutmeg and cinnamon each.

Jumbo Fluffy Walnut Apple Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2013
Nice basic muffin. Prefer extra spice such as suggested with nutmeg. I like the reviewers suggestion of oatmeal in topping. Would have liked baking time suggestion for smaller muffins.

Hummus III

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2012
Excellent results for a selective hummus eater! I followed reviews and reduced tahini to 2 Tbsp. Also added tiny bit of cumin. I did peel beans because I had a hand electric beater only, to blend. Result was smooth..

OREO and Fudge Ice Cream Cake

Reviewed: May 19, 2012
Ice cream sandwich based, easy, yummy and PRACTICAL cake. You can make ahead and freeze. Use vanilla, mint or neopolitan ice cream sandwiches. I doubled the recipe for a birthday party. This is not the gourmet version but is a wonderful no fuss solution!

Nanaimo Bars III

Reviewed: May 12, 2012
Yummy! Found it hard to spread even layer chocolate on top however. I did follow reviews and use 1/3 c butter not 1/2c in middle custard layer. I like the thicker bottom layer and thinner custard layer!

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2012
Great. Living in France a lot of people make crepes. My family and I prefer using this recipe and adding extra milk until it is very thin and runny and make "crepes" on a crepe pan. Put nutella inside or lemon curd and whipped cream or maple syrup and whipped cream! I have made them for French kids who love ours! Only challenge was sometimes lumps in mixture, esp thicker original pancake version.

Apple Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2012
Really good overall but too sweet for me so I will decrease sugar( esp if following reviews with substituting applesauce since that may also sweeten it more). I got a nice moist cake by using 1/2 c applesauce and 1/3 c vegetable oil.

Basically good but bland.. suggestions? I followed reviews and added 1/4 c extra PB and flour each and tsp vanilla.. And dipped one side in sugar and criss crossed. Nice texture. I preferred 375 degrees to 350 so a little crispier on outside.. Then At about 9 min cooking.

Oven Pot Roast

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2012
5 stars, except I followed some review advice. Used a can of dark beer instead of vermouth. Used beef broth but had no soup to use. Before flour coat I rubbed fresh garlic on meat. However the recipe helped me have the foundation for what to do! My first attempt!

Love the medium soft/medium chewy texture! Added walnuts, about 2/3 cup for personal preference. My pickier eater child loved them and he usually avoids brownies. Great WITHOUT FROSTING!

Extreme Chocolate Cake

My first "scratch" choc. cake and so easy! Great even WITHOUT icing! I sprinkled a little icing sugar and slivered almonds on top to look nice, but no icing. Thanks for tips re runny batter being normal and not over-filling pans!

Fast Chicken Soup Base

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2012
A great base that I used to make a chicken noodle soup! Used my leftover home oven roasted chicken, left over tagliatelli noodles (at very end ,just to warm) and cut up carrots, green beans and broccoli. I prefer to microwave veggies til just a bit firm and add at end. My husband put sweet red chili sauce to season his bowl and my daughter fresh lemon.

Best Apple Crumble

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2012
The apples got too mushy because of cooking. If you have to change it significantly to make it tolerable or good, then it's not the same recipe! I admit I followed the recipe!

Mom's Paprika Chicken with Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2012
Add extra paprika & pre cook potatoes as reviews suggest. My second time, I served home baked fries (skin on), on side, instead of potatoes in dish. I added a little red wine and honey to dish to sweeten for a change. I also added broccoli, near the end so not overcooked? This is an easy main dish to serve guests!
