About this Cook
I love to cook, but sometimes I really spend all day cooking something completely from scratch and other days I go for fast and easy. I enjoy baking, and being a southerner, am really good at frying things, but don't do it too often because of the fat.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Pies and chicken and dressing at Thanksgiving and making candy and cookies at Christmas.
My cooking triumphs
Getting the first Thanksgiving turkey I ever made to come out perfectly!
My cooking tragedies
Accidentally leaving my rolls over the oven vent on the stove so that they burned on the bottom. Mixing up pasta in a plastic bowl that I set on an electric burner that was still hot (what a mess that was). Also, accidentally mistaking cinnamon for cumin and putting it in my pot of chili (they were in the same kind of jar).

Chicken Pot Pie IX
Of course I played with the recipe a bit, like others. I boiled an unpeeled potato in with the chicken, carrots, onions, and celery all at the same time. I then cooled the potato in the freezer, peeled it, chunked it and added it to the sauce. I added some finely minced red pepper with the onions while sauteeing in the butter for the sauce, and I replaced pie crust with refrigerated crescent roll dough. I could NOT keep my son and husband off of this. I made a 9 x 13 pan and it was gone before I knew it! Definitely a keeper.
