Warm Tropical Banana Ice Cream Topping

Reviewed: May 16, 2009
This is wonderful! Just know that your bananas will not stay firm and nicely shaped. They get a bit mushy and soften a lot as they cook. But,you will be so pleased with this recipe. It got rave reviews at my Build Your Own Ice Cream Sundae Party! It was the favorite over my homemade hot fudge sauce and the homemade butterscoch sauce. I also made it again for topping our favorite Belgian Waffles... Divine! Thanks!

Coconut Syrup

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2008
Oh... I wanted to like this sooo much! It was just too, too grainy. No matter how many times I ran it through the processer, I couldn't get a smooth syrup. I love coconut, but my family couldn't get past the texture in order to enjoy it. Sorry!

Pesto Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2008
We weren't wild about these... they were much to salty and had too much pesto (and I like pesto!). Good idea... needs alterations though. I served them on English Muffins, which we all liked.

Unbelievably Good Fruit Dip

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2008
Absolutely Fantastic! Make sure you chill for at least 3 hours... gives the flavors a chance to blend and thickens it up a bit. I made this for my sister's baby shower and everyone raved! Couldn't be any easier... Thank you!

Peanut Butter Popcorn

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2008
A masterpiece!! I used 3/4c peanut butter and spread the mixture out on two cookie sheets to "dry up" a bit. I then melted some chocolate chips in a ziploc bag in the microwave and cut the corner tip and "drizzled" the pocpcorn with chocolate.... Thank you!

Pumpkin Fluff Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2007
WAY too much pumpkin. I ended up adding an entire 8 oz. carton of cream cheese and quite a bit of powdered sugar in order to "tone it down" a bit. I took it to a Halloween party with Nilla Wafers and everyone raved... I was very pleased with the end result, but because the initial recipe needed alteration I couldn't give it a higher rating. I will make again as adjusted though.

Banana Pancakes I

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2007
I thought these were really very good. Banana flavor was perfect, not too light or too strong. My family had mixed reviews, hence the 4 stars (4, 5, and 7 year olds and hubby). I, too, added the 1/2 tsp. vanilla and substituted cinnamon applesauce for the oil to help keep the fat down. Served with Coconut Syrup from this site... not a fan of the syrup though. Will make again and serve with Jam!

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2007
Ok, like many others I, too, used JellyBean14's changes. They are as follows: "(1) add salt, pepper, and garlic, (2) double the sauce but keep the cream cheese and worcestershire the same,(3) use Golden Mushroom, not Cream of Mushroom or don't make this at all, (4) reduce the cooking time to about 5-6 hours on low, (5) add a "dollup" of sour cream when you add the cream cheese to get an extra "tang", (6) add a bullion cube, (7) add a half packet of onion soup mix, (8) serve over egg noodles, (9) add sauteed mushrooms about 1/2 an hour before" I did not add the mushrooms nor the sour cream. My family ate it, but didn't rush for seconds. In my opinion it was WAY too salty... and I love salt. Next time I will find ways to cut back on the sodium some how. Mine cooked on high for 2 hours then low for 2 1/2 hour and the meat was perfectly tender. I'll try again...

Caramel Apple Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2007
I've never been a fan of cooking pork on the stovetop, they always turn out tough and dried out. So, I made these as some reviewers have suggested and browned my pork chops on the stovetop and then transfered to a baking dish. Meanwhile I prepared the apple mixture, then poured it over the top of the pork chops and baked in the oven. The result was a delicious apple topping and very, very bland pork chops. My kids ate up the apples, but the pork chops left much to be desired. I may try again and try marinating the chops as some others have suggested.

Creamy Pesto Shrimp

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2007
My entire family loved this!! It will certainly be a regular at our home!! My husband said it was better than any restaurant shrimp dish he's ever had! I did make the "full fat" version, however, when I make it again I'll try using some lower fat substitutions to make it a little better for us...

Wonderful! A definite "Recipe Box" Keeper! I substitute chicken broth for the white wine as a personal preference and still this dish is fabulous!

This is our favorite winter soup! I make it at least several times a month! It's easy enough for a quick weeknight meal and rich enough to serve to company. A certain keeper!

Four Cheese Macaroni

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2007
Fabulous!! This is very, very rich. I followed others advice and omitted the eggs. Blend I used was 1c sharp cheddar, 1c mild cheddar, 1c colby/jack, 8 oz velveeta and 8 oz. cream cheese. Of all my easter side dishes, this one was easily the best. Just divine! Best when served immediately, but leftovers (the little that there was) were good when a little milk was added when reheating.

Egg-Free Low-Fat Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2007
A really great low fat cookie! Super easy to make. Mine cooked just perfectly at 12 minutes. Just know that because of the low fat/sugar content, these are much more cake-like than cookie. Will make again and again.

Easy Cheese Ball II

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2006
This is such a pleasant surprise! A perfect, easy appetizer that travels well. Great for big parties! Take NOTE: This recipe is supremely better when served the next day (I've done both). Any reviews regarding "too much" seasoning were probably served the same day. When allowed to set overnight, the flavors really blend together wonderfully.

Poppy Seed Chicken II

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2006
This is a family favorite! My son calls it his "favorite chicken". I use 3 large chicken breasts and I also used 8 oz. of cream cheese rather than the sour cream (just a personal preference). I assume the "teaspoon" of poppyseeds called for is supposed to be a Tablespoon... that's what I use and it is just perfect!

Really a great recipe! Has become a staple at our house for breakfast! A little work to get out of the pan, but when sprayed well with Baker's Joy, it's much easier! Thank you!!!

Southern Grilled Barbecued Ribs

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2005
Really a wonderful recipe! I used a tad more brown sugar in mine as the sauce was a little too vinegarey for my taste... but the extra brown sugar took care of that. I've made this twice and it's a huge hit at our house. I've passed it on to many friends. Thanks! Just know that the sauce is quite thin.
