Cabbage Rolls II

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2004
This was ok, but not as good as expected. I followed the reviews and used onion soup mix. I made the mistake of using the whole packet and it was way too much. Next time I'll use 1/2 packet. I also added some garlic powder and made a couple of stuffed green peppers and some cabbage rolls. I doubled the sauce like everyone suggested, but i also put v8 juice in the bottom of the pan. Will definately make this again and tweak a little. Recipe was a good base.

Chili I

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2004
This recipe was so easy and quick. I didn't have the vinegar on hand and didn't notice a difference. I also used Wahoo Chili seasoning from Tastefully Simple. It came out great. Thanks!

Cavatelli and Broccoli

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2003
This was a good recipe. I added sauted onions and only used a small amount of the red pepper seeds. I also didn't have any fresh broccoli so i used frozen. Came out great.

Antipasto Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2003
This was a big hit. I read the reviews first and saw that someone wrote about the dressing being absorbed by the pasta and they are so right. Don't overcook the pasta or you'll have mush.

Jamie's Cranberry Spinach Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2003
This was a huge hit with the whole family, even my husband loved it and he isn't a big spinach fan. I followed the suggestion of sauting the almonds and sesame seeds. I'm going to keep some dressing in the fridge because it was really good too.

Chocolate Eclair Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2003
My family thought this was terrific. I made it about 8 hours before we ate it and kept it in the fridge. This made the graham crackers turn more cake-like. Will definately make this again.

French Onion Burgers

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2003
Big hit with my husband even without using the dressing and just using regular ketchup. I make up a batch and keep them in the freezer for when someone wants a quick burger.

Grilled Shrimp Scampi

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2003
This was awesome. I doubled the marinade and make sure you don't overcook. Big hit. Next time I will probably add some veggies to skewers too.

Tangy Honey Glazed Ham

Reviewed: May 8, 2003
This was very ummy. I made this for Easter and it was a big hit. I didn't have any oranges on hand so i used orange juice. I also had to cook the ham for a total of 4 hours before it reached the correct temperature.

Blackened Portobello-Mushroom Salad

Reviewed: May 8, 2003
This was pretty good, but really spicy. I couldn't find the stone-ground mustard so we used ground mustard (spice section). The next time I will cut the cajun seasoning in half and the ground mustard in half. We also cooked the mushrooms 4 minutes each side. We only used a 5 oz bag of assorted gourmet salad greens. 16 cups is way too much for 4 people.

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2003
This recipe was so easy to make. My husband always complains when I make red meat and this came out perfect. I did what most people said and cut the water by 1/2 cup and substituted the red wine. I used a Top Round London Broil put the slow cooker on low for 7 1/2 hours then added a mixture of 2 TBSP of corn starch with a couple teaspoons of water mixed into the cooker and put the cooker on high for the last 1/2 hour. The meat was perfect and fell apart. My husband told me that was something I should make again. That's a first in the red meat department!

Amaretto Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2003
I just made this recipe for a family get together and it was a hit. I did make a modification to the frosting. We are all Chocolate finatics so I couldn't show up without chocolate on my dessert. I bought the Betty Crocker ready made chocolate frosting with hershey chocolate and mixed in two tablespoons of Amaretto. If you don't like a strong kick, you might want to add just a couple teaspoons or a tablespoon. I suggest you start out with just a little and taste until you reach the desired taste. Thanks for the recipe Shawn!
