I grew up cooking for my 8 brothers and sisters. My mom taught me to be extremely resourceful in the kitchen. I have had the pleasure of cooking for my own wonderful husband and 4 sons and 2 beautiful daughters-in-laws. Both my adult sons are now the main cooks in their households. One way we all share our love with others is to cook for them. My sons are always sharing with me what they have learned. I'm looking forward to our Thanksgiving where we can all cook our Thanksgiving meal together.
My favorite things to cook
I love making Caesar salad, 100% from scratch, love grilling the most tender, most tastie steaks on the planet, my boys and I love to cook Thai food (though we are all Texans), I really love making stir-fry in my electric wok. I love grilling veggies that I have marinated in my special olive oil lemon garlic homemade marinade. Love to pair wine with food.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Favorite family cooking traditions, Thai food, Mexican food, Thanksgiving dinner, homemade chili & cornbread
My cooking triumphs
I invented the most delicious chicken tortilla soup, my husband loves it. I can get my kids to eat veggies by making cream soups, I learned how to make Yorkshire pudding and it came out perfectly. Can't wait to do it again. A major triumph was realizing that to make great Thai food, you have to get your ingredients from a real Thai store. Never buy the Thai Spice brand. Also, I learned to make the best fajitas, you have to go to La Michuicana (Mexican grocery store)
My cooking tragedies
The worse thing I can remember is brining a Thanksgiving turkey "breast" and it was so salty that no one could eat it.
