French Breakfast Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2010
These were edible, not great though and I wont make them again. They were very bland and not sweet even with the topping. Maybe more sugar and vanilla might help, I am not wasting the ingredients to find out though.

These are amazing, it's important to knead VERY well and use bread flour not all purpose if you want them chewy. I use Cream cheese frosting II from this site.

This was wonderful and chewy, I am going to make it again without the garlic and use cinnamon and sugar sprinkled on top.

Soft Giant Pretzels

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2009
Not exactly like the mall pretzels but if you do it right it's very close and well worth the t8ime spent for the money you save. To all the reviewers that didn't know what to do with the baking soda or ended up with batter I suggest you read the recipe because the soda and larger quantitiy of water are for the bath not the dough. I really liked this recipe but it could easily go wrong if you dont pay attention. I follow the recipe exactly except i use bread flour or sub 1 Tbsp per cup of gluten flour to make bread flour, this makes a much chewier pretzel. It is also important to knead well to get chewy pretzels. Also i used a small sauce pan and 1 Tbsp of baking soda per cup of water for the bath same solution just not as much of it. i use a flat slotted spatula to remove it from the water and brush with melted butter right after i take the mout of the oven and sprinkle with salt.

Vanilla Wafer Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2008
These are good, I did substitute 65% vegetable oil spread since I was out of butter and they came out fine. They aren't crispy like the store bought ones but they didn't last long enough to cool so they may have been less chewy if they'd had a chance to cool. That tells you how good they are though. I piped them also and it was really easy.

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: May 1, 2008
These were good, I only used the topping on half of them. I did add a tsp of vanilla to the batter and my bananas were huge but I usually add extra anyway. They were great the next day with or without the topping.

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2008
This was really good, the only thing I did differently is that I only put the crumble on top because I feared it would turn to mush, I would make this again.

Zucchini Cobbler

This was nothing like apple cobbler, it didn't taste good either. The topping was very glue like and not crumbly at all. I won't make this again.

Mall Pretzels

These were good warm but didn't reheat well. I may make these again but I will use all bread flour and knead longer to make them chewier.

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2003
This came out more like a bread and not chewy like pizza crust. Maybe more kneading would've helped but it doesn't say how long. It was also pretty bland, if I do try it again I will knead it for 8-10 min and add more salt and sugar.

French Bread

Reaaly good bread, I think it's best the same day. I also wrapped it in a damp towel right after it came out of the oven for about a half hour to make the crust chewy too. very good

Janet's Rich Banana Bread

Good basic bana bread recipe not as much banana flavor as I expected and I used an extra banana too. I didn't slice the bananas though I just squished them with a fork really chunky.

Grandma's Corn Bread Dressing

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2003
I followed this recipe almost exactly. I didn't have sage so I used poultyr seasoning. I used Marie Callanders corn bread mix and it is way too sweet for stuffing. The flovor was great except for the sweetness. I will try it again but using a different cornbread mix or making it from scratch with no sugar.

Exquisite Pizza Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2003
This sauce was really good. I didn't add the anchovy paste or salt, and I cut the honey down to 1T. I also used 2/3 c minced onion instead of the onion powder and simmered it for 20 min. This is definately my new favorite pizza sauce. Wont be buying the jar stuff anymore!
