Bread and Celery Stuffing

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2012
Easy and delicious. Made it to go along with a turkey breast for Xmas. Went with a little over a cup of chicken broth (like mine a little more together) but kept everything else the same; it made the house smell wonderful, and was a great competitor to my mother's in-bird stuffing recipe. She loved it!

You've Gotta Be Kidding Onions

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2011
Easy to make, and folks at a party liked this ONCE they tasted it. That seems to be the stumbling block... I had them in the center of a serving dish, surrounded by crackers. Very few takers, but those that did try it, liked it. I will admit I had quite a lot of appetizers on the table, so maybe this got overlooked. If you're looking for a home run to serve, go with the King's Hawaiian Spinach dip recipe (on this site). Now THAT was a winner.

Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2011
This was good, but if I'm going to make it again, I'd probably want to do it for the same day I'm serving. I made it a day before, and the salad reduced down to almost half the size of the container it was placed in. Fortunately, I had blanched the broccoli first to retain some of the crunch. I probably did go heavy on the cheese and bacon... restrain yourselves... the broccoli and dressing work well without having to mask them.

Spinach Dip

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2011
Can I say "crowd pleaser"? I made this for a party, and I did have a LOT of food for the event. This recipe, which was easy to make, received nothing but rave reviews. The first taste does makes you wonder whether there's crabmeat in it... it's rich and delicious. I went with another rater's suggestion to use Knorr vegetable mix (in the packet); I did had to scour 4 supermarkets to find the loaves of King's Hawaiian (found at Acme), but I don't think the recipe would work as well without it (by replacing with pumpernickle or something else). I look forward to making it again for our Christmas dinner party.

Apple Butter Pork Loin

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2007
I usually buy an 8-10 pound pork loin, cut it into 3 chunks, and save them to make this recipe. Followed directly, but with a rather large hunk of pork, this comes out beautifully. Pulls apart with forks, delicious taste! This recipe is definitely a keeper!

Linguine with Scampi

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2006
This recipe was good, but without any tinkering, it's definitely missing SOMETHING. Perhaps adding white wine. Probably will search for a new recipe next time.

My Crab Cakes

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2006
My mother is in constant search for a good crabcake. With a few modifications, this recipe totally won her over! I used 16oz. of crabmeat (special, not lump), 2 eggs, and halved the crackers. I even used light mayo and they still tasted great. Made them the night before, breaded them, and they sat all night in the fridge. Browned perfectly in the pan. Thanks for the fabulous start to something that will remain in my recipe box for a long time!

Strawberry Cake III

Reviewed: May 23, 2006
Delicious! Couple of things... definately needs to be frosted the day of the event. Hanging out overnight in the fridge makes it a bit messy. And definately doesn't travel well. I neglected to use toothpicks to hold the layers. The top layer slid off 2" off the bottom layer in transit. I was a mess! But let me tell you... Using fresh NJ strawberries, 2 9" rounds, and cutting up bits of strawberries in between the layers... what a hit. Everyone at work loved the cake. Will DEFINATELY make again, even with all the mess!

Chocolate Lovers' Favorite Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2005
Used vanilla extract and mini chocolate chips. Delicious. Cake was almost fudge-like, and stayed moist for DAYS. Great for chocolate lovers. Will definately make this again and again!

Irish Cream Bundt Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2005
This was a good cake. Not amazing, or earth-shattering, but a good cake. There were leftovers in the office, which never happened after the "better-than-sex cake". I guess I'll stick with ooey-gooey cakes for my co-workers!

Red-Skinned Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2005
So much better than regular mashed potatoes, with great color. Followed directions word for word... only I had to keep the cooked potatoes in the pot for 20 minutes waiting for stuffing to finish cooking. Potatoes didn't overcook, but they seemed to get cold quickly. I figure that's from them sitting in the pot, but I will DEFINATELY make these again. My boyfriend and mom loved them.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2005
At first I was going to give this 3 stars because it was so bland out of the oven the first day. Give it a day... the bread gets so much better! I added a few grates of fresh nutmeg to the batter, but would have improved it more by adding nuts and some more spices. Will try again. Thanks!

Apple Spice Dump Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2005
My co-workers and boyfriend who think the Better than Sex Cake II is too sweet LOVED this cake. Simple to make. I did halve the spices, but use only 1/4 of fresh ground nutmeg. And the longer this cake sits the goopy-ier and tastier it gets. I was a doubter when I had to pour a dry cake mix on the apples, but it baked perfectly. Very nice!

This just might beat the Better Than Sex Cake II in my office's favorites. Definately go with the chocolate pudding mix!

Awesome Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2003
Based on everyone's comments, I added 3/4 cup of oil and 1/4 cup of applesauce, along with 2 tsp each of nutmeg, allspice and cinnamon. What a delicious cake! The birthday girl was a big fan and we've been eating it all day. Healthy? Well, at least there's carrots in it! Thanks for a great recipe!

Better Than Sex Cake II

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2003
So simple to make, but rave reviews from everyone that tries it. I'm up to about 7 Skor bars (save 1 for the topping) and poking holes in it works for me. You have to try this... your friends will love you!
