Vinegar Pie VI

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2002
Talk about take me back! I always wondered how Gramma did this, now I know! Great recipe. Great taste. My 4 year old son helped me with this. I am going to try this with Raspberry Vinegar. I just know it will be great. Thanks for a marvelous trip down memory lane and for restarting a family tradition.

Spinach and Pine Nuts

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2002
Love this, but we ALWAYS add raisins (equal amount to pine nuts). Raisins, pine nuts and spinach were made to go together.

Polvorones de Canele (Cinnamon Cookies)

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2002
I loved these as posted, then I made some changes to try to duplicate the real Spanish version of these delightful cookies, but many will probably be turned off by the LARD. Substitute lard for the butter, double the cinnamon in the cookie, and roll in sesame seeds instead of the sugar/cinnamon coating. They should come out super soft like fine sand and just hold together. In Spain they are traditionally wrapped after baking and you SQUEEZE the cookie before unwrapping so it holds together. Forget Chocolate Chip or Peanut Butter Cookies, THIS IS WHAT COOKIES ARE ALL ABOUT!

Montecados (Spanish Cookies)

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2002
MANTECADOS are an unusual textured "cookie" that is almost equivalent to eating cookie dough. These were excellent, and an excellent example of what other cultures LOVE. Thanks for a very nice recipe.

Mayonnaise Biscuits

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2002
So simple, SOOOO GOOOOOD! Made 4 batches in 3 days. Great as is. Added 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese, 1 1/2 teaspoons chopped fresh chives and 1 teaspoon dried parsley to one batch. In another batch, I put a base amount on the baking sheet then added a spoonful of raspberry jam and covered it with another layer of biscuit dough and sealed the edges = Fresh Hot Scones. This recipe is too good. Thanks.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2002
The title says it all: BEST BIG, FAT, CHEWY and CHOCOLATE CHIP. These are not for the faint hearted. They aren't cookies with chocolate chips, they are chocolate chips with some cookie around them. I doubled the quantities. I'm running short. Will have to do another batch. Thanks for God's gift to chocolate chip lovers.

Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2003
Love this recipe, so do my kids. We made the following changes: used Crisco instead of butter, almond extract instead of vanilla, added 1 tsp. cinnamon, 1 1/2 cups flour, 1 tsp. baking soda, 1/2 tsp. salt, old fashioned oats for quick cooking, 1 1/2 cups walnuts, 2 cups chocolate chips. We use an ice cream scoop to get cookies onto parchment paper and bake for 13-15 minutes. Makes big, thick cookies that DO NOT spread too much. One is often enough. We bake 2 dozen and freeze 2 dozen 'balls' for quick and easy treats. All around, a truly great cookie base. Thanks.

Best Bread Machine Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2008
Based on the other reviews I used 1 1/2 teaspoons salt in what turned out to be the Best Bread Machine White Bread I've ever made. My 6 year-old now makes this bread for us every day. Thanks for a great recipe and to all the reviewers.
