Best Ever Sausage with Peppers, Onions, and Beer!

Reviewed: May 18, 2011
WOW! This was soooo good! I used the recommendation for the crock pot version. I cut the recipe in 1/2 and used a medium crock pot. I did end up using a whole 6 oz can of paste though to thicken it a little more. Also, to make it healthier I used low fat mild italian chicken sausage. I also used a light beer to lessen the beer taste. Did not use cilantro, used dried oregano and parsley. Next time I will wait to salt it and maybe use a low sodium paste though. The first night we had it on whole grain pasta, the second night as a sandwich. It was AWESOME!!

Definately a great option for a holiday spread, my husband would have given it 10 stars! We ended up putting it in the small filo cups as an appetizer, it worked perfectly!

Summerly Squash

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2010
Love this squash recipe! I did make adjustments based on what I had and preferences. I used a can of seasoned tomatoes, drained, plus minced garlic, and oregano. I didn't use as much onions as the recipe called for, and I used frozen ones as I am not a fan of onion. This turned out great, I have made it a couple of times this summer and even those that don't like squash went back for seconds.

Cowboy Hash

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2010
This was a pretty good recipe, but it needed a little added to it to make it better. I sauted the beef with some garlic and onion. I added 1 can of tomato paste to give it a base and then seasoned it with adobo seasoning, more garlic(can never have too much right!), and chili powder. Then I added cheddar cheese on top.

Classy Green Bean Casserole

This was great! Our new green bean casserole for the holidays. I did follow the others advice and use 1/2 of the amount sour cream. I did made extra topping too because it is so yummy. For those that hate onions as much as I do, this is perfect!

Cheesy Creamed Spinach

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2009
OMG!!! This was amazing! I used this as a new recipe for Thanksgiving and it was a huge success. I used 4 packages of frozen spinach and drained them very well insted of fresh. I could not make myself buy heavy cream, so I used light cream insted which worked fine. Also, I used the Kraft 5 italian cheese mixture insted of just provolone which has provolone, asiago, parm, romano, and motz in it. Lastly I made this the day before and put it in a casserole dish and used a ritz cracker and butter topping on it to make it more of a casserole which worked very well - I baked it at 350 for 20-30 minuntes - basically till I saw it start bubbling. So not exactly the same, but all of the other ingredients were. Everyone loved it...even the spinach haters.

Slow Cooker Turkey Breast

The best turkey we have ever had! I used onion mushroom soup mix, plus added a little sage, thyme, salt, and pepper to the skin and in the cavity. We made it on a random Sunday and it was so good, we plan to make it for Christmas day dinner!

Sausage Potato Bake

Pretty good recipe, easy to make. I used trader joes sweet italian chicken sausage which gave it a nice flavor, not too salty, not too bland. I did not use as many potatoes and added some veggies.

Quick and Easy Goulash

We love this recipe...with a few changes. Elbow noodles insted of egg noodles and I hate onion, so I use onion powder and garlic insted. Easy and basic...what more could you ask for.

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2006
This turned out great! Moist, tasty, not too sweet, perfect flavor. I am definately making this one again!! Also...I have doubled the crisp portion and used a smaller pan. Also, insted of the "drizzle" I just mix the apples with the sugar, vanilla, and a bit more cinnamon to make it a little easier.

Broccoli Chicken Casserole I

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2006
Turned out great, wonderful comfort food. I read some of the reviews regarding it being too dry...so I made some adjustments. First I boiled the chicken in a bit of broth and seasonings. Then I used about 1/4 cup of the remaining broth and 1/4 milk and added it to the soup mix, it was perfect, nice and moist but not soupy. I also used the remaining liquid to cook some rice in which gave it a perfect flavor for a side dish. A 5 star meal can come from anywhere!

Chicken Biscuit Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2006
My husband and I really liked how this turned out. I did cut the amount of fat to cook the onions in 1/2 and changed it to olive oil and also used low fat bisquick to top it to help reduce the total fat content. Both worked fine, but the underpart of the center of the biscuits were not 100% done, so in the future I will lower the temp and cook longer. We definately plan to use this recipe again!
