Chili by George is a fabulous base to work with! I omitted the bell pepper, but added some fresh chopped garlic. I sauteed it in with my meat and onions. Like several other reviewers, I doubled some of the spices, substituted brown sugar for white, and used canned diced tomatoes in their own juice instead of plain tomato juice. It turned out great. I think this would be nice for a party or a chili cookoff. I usually prefer my chili pretty spicy so I may add even more cayenne next time, or maybe some fresh jalapenos or chilis to jazz it up. This was my first time attempting to make chili from scratch and I am very pleased with my results! Thank you all for your reviews as they were so helpful!!!
