Shortbread Crust

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2004
I thought this recipe was delicious. The first time I made it I filled the crust with fresh strawberries, and the second I used dulce de leche ice cream. Delicious!

Coconut Shrimp I

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2004
I've been looking for a good coconut shrimp recipe, and this one is perfect. I tried it the other night, and it was delicious, served with a side of sugar snap peas. I used egg substitue for the egg, and light beer. I was hesitant to try the sauce because it sounded kinda strange, but I had the ingredients on hand, and was pleasantly surprised. I found that using very little mustard and a little more marmalade was perfect. Thanks for the recipe!

Double Chocolate Biscotti

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2004
This was my first attempt at making biscotti, and it turned out great. My family raved about these chocolate-lover's cookies, and I've passed the recipe on to them. The only changes I made were to use egg substitute instead of the eggs, and Splenda in place of the white sugar. I'll definitely be making this recipe again, and it stores and ships very well.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2004
I've run across this recipe several times on Allrecipes, and decided to finally give it a try because of all the rave reviews it has gotten. I thought the recipe was good, but not great. I followed the directions exactly, except I added 1/4 tsp of salt and used Splenda for the white sugar as I do in all my baking. I pressed down on the cookies slightly before baking so that they wouldn't get too cakey, as other reviewers had mentioned they do, which seemes to work well. The cookies overall just had a very ordinary flavor...okay, but I've enjoyed other recipes better.

Cranberry Pistachio Biscotti

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2003
This biscotti turned out great, but next time I'll use less pistachios (it was chock full!). I've shared the recipe and will definitely make again.

Rosemary Roasted Turkey

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2003
I've made this recipe 4 times so far, twice at Thanksgiving, once at Christmas, and once at Easter. Everyone loves it, and I've even shared the recipe with friends. It was my first time making a turkey, and it turned out wonderfully. I used a combination of fresh and dried ingredients, and rubbing the mixture under the skin is key. The drippings make a tasty gravy, and I'm sure I'll be using this recipe many more times.

Never Fail Pie Crust I

Reviewed: May 4, 2003
I always use this recipe now. I like to refrigerate it for a little while before rolling it out because it's so much easier to handle. Thanks!

Basic Flaky Pie Crust

Reviewed: May 4, 2003
It's flaky and does the job, but doesn't have very much flavor. I used it with the rhubarb and strawberry pie and it turned out well, but it doesn't do much for pies such as apple.

Honey Glazed Ham

Reviewed: May 4, 2003
I cooked the ham a little longer to achieve a darker skin, and sprinkled some brown sugar on the ham about 20 minutes before it was ready to come out. The taste was delicious and it looked beautiful.

Rhubarb and Strawberry Pie

Reviewed: May 4, 2003
Excellent combination of such a tart vegetable and sweet fruit. The key is letting the rhubarb and strawberry mixture "marinate" in the sugar, to bring out some flavor. My guests raved, and I will definitely make it again.

Apple Pie III

Reviewed: May 4, 2003
Excellent. I sliced the apples a little slimmer than I usually would, and they turned out so soft and sweet. I decorated the crust with a few of the covered apple slices, and ended up handing out the recipe to several friends who raved about it. A new family favorite.

Spinach and Strawberry Salad

Reviewed: May 4, 2003
Excellent salad, but a bit sweet, so I cut the sugar to half. If you mix the sugar and strawberries beforehand, and let them chill, the sugar brings out the flavor of the strawberries a bit. Fresh strawberries are best, frozen ones just aren't the same.

Buttermilk Pancakes II

Reviewed: May 4, 2003
The pancakes weren't very fluffy, they ended up looking more like crepes. So I doubled the flour and baking soda, and added some vanilla and then they turned out much better.
