Tropical Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2010
YUM, YUM, YUM!!!! I love anything pineapple and tropical, so I thought I might like this. I was going to wait for hubby to get home before I tried it, but it looked so good when it came out of the oven that I couldn't resist trying a little piece. Oh my gosh!! I ate three more pieces before I could stop myself. This didn't last long in my house. It's sooo good, and I can't wait to make it again. Thanks Alisha!

All-Around Good Smoothie

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2009
This is so good! Tastes more like a strawberry milkshake than a smoothie! I made it for my husband and his friend on their way out the door one morning, and it's been requested again. I was worried the flax might be noticeable - grainy or something - but I couldn't tell it was in there at all. I've been experimenting with smoothie recipes and this is definitely a keeper! Thanks for sharing!

KISS Salmon

Reviewed: May 20, 2012
I was looking for a last minute way to prepare my salmon filets and found this recipe. It was great! And so quick to make. I used strawberry Polaner All Fruit jelly instead of raspberry, since that's what I had on hand and it turned out very yummy. I'd like to try the raspberry next time. The sauce made enough for 4 salmon filets. My 2 yr old gobbled this up!

Bacon Wrapped Smokies

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2009
I made these for my first super bowl party with the in-laws, and they were a HIT!! My brother in law couldn't stop eating them. The whole pan was gone by the end of the game. Thanks!!

Nanny's Spaghetti Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2010
This is my new favorite spaghetti sauce! I've made it twice now; the first time I put it on chicken parmesan and it was fantastic!! Made it again last night for spaghetti and it was really good, but we like it best on the chicken parm. It's a tangy, tomatoey sauce that I find so tasty! Also love that it's so easy.

Strawberry Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2010
Oh my goodness!! So good, I can't wait to make these again! I made strawberry butter to go with these (1 stick of butter, 1 Tbsp powd. sugar, 4-5 strawberries), and they were so delicious!! Thanks!

Slow Cooker, Easy Baked Potato Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2013
Tried this tonight and it was soooooo good! A nice change from regular ol' potato soup. Made exactly as listed, except I didn't have a red onion and used a sweet yellow onion. Also didn't have bouillon granules and threw in one bouillon cube. It was ready after 6 hrs on low. My 3 year old ate three bowls!! Very good on a cold winter evening. I'll be making again and again...Thanks!

Homesteader Cornbread

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2010
Made exactly as written, except I had no vegetable oil and used coconut oil instead. This will be my new cornbread recipe! Turned out perfectly -- so light and moist, not too dense at all. VERY good with a little shredded cheese sprinkled over the top before baking.

Slow Cooker Oats

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2013
I'm glad I found this! It's a hearty, warm, and EASY breakfast during cold winter months. I love that I can start it the night before and wake up to the delicious smell of cinnamon and apples cooking! I've made it twice so far...the first time exactly by the recipe and it was delicious! The second time I omitted raisins (per request of my 3 year old) and brown sugar, just b/c I dislike adding sugar to anything for breakfast. I think it really needs both of those ingredients though. We ended up adding a lil sugar to our bowls.

Sizzling Sherry Shrimp with Garlic

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2009
I really liked this. I used ground red pepper instead of the flakes, using a little less than the recipe called for because my husband doesn't like too much spice. I don't know if the ground kind has more heat than the flakes, because it still turned out very spicy and he couldn't eat it! I thought it was great, but I love spicy food. So I got the whole pan to myself! :-) Also, instead of either/or, I used both lemon juice and sherry. I tried it without the lemon juice, and think it's better with it. Thanks for the recipe, I'm munching on the leftovers as I type this!

Apple Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2010
The recipe as-is is pretty good...but I took the suggestion of another reviewer and added a topping (1 c. oats, 1 c. flour, 1 c. br. sugar, 1/4 tsp. baking powder and baking soda, 1/2 c. melted butter) to them and THEN they were sensational. Also melted caramel with a little heavy whipping cream and drizzled over the top and WOW! These were sooooo good, I couldn't stop eating them! The recipe without these additions wouldn't have been anything spectacular, but thanks to the previous reviewers suggestions I will make these again and again. YUM!!

Chili Glazed Salmon

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2009
I make salmon a lot and am always on the lookout for new ways to prepare it. I thought this was pretty good. Not outstanding, but something I'll probably make again. I liked that it had a nice mixture of slightly sweet and spicy. My husband, not a big salmon fan, said that it's "not bad". Thanks for a new idea for salmon. And it's SO EASY to prepare! Loved that.

Graham Crackers

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2013
I used butter instead of shortening and cut the sugar(used just a little over 1/3 cup). It needed more milk- I used a little more than 1/2 cup. Made as written otherwise. I've decided to cut out most processed foods from our diet and that means making crackers from scratch. This was simple and tastes good and my 3 year old loves them. We rolled them out together, used alphabet cookie cutters.. and made graham cracker letters! (healthy AND educational! lol) They only took about 10 minutes in the oven. These will freeze well and made about 100 smallish letters. Thanks! I'll use this again!

Apple Pie Smoothie

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2009
This is very, very good! I tried it after mixing everything together, and couldn't believe how delicious it was! I then added some vanilla protein powder. That messed the taste up, so I fiddled with it for awhile, but never quite got that first yummy taste back. I will be making this again and won't add the protein powder next time!
