I started cooking in 2003 when we got tired of trying to eat out with my then very fussy 2 year old. I began by taking lessons which were invaluable. It was a series of 12 technique classes that taught what it means to bake, broil, steam, roast, etc. Once you understand these, you can cook almost anything! I have also used this site religiously, especially the ingredient search, and have depended heavily on the reviews. Using all of these things has really boosted my cooking confidence and I think am almost an expert by now!

White Chili with Ground Turkey
I used half the chicken stock but otherwise followed the recipe and it was great! The cinnamon really added a nice flavor.

Mini Ham And Cheese Rolls
These were very popular at a recent open house buffett, especially with kids. You can probably fill it with anything but don't skip the poppy seed drizzle - it's tasty and makes the sandwich look great!

Beef Bulgogi
We loved this recipe and it was really easy! I did have to improvise a little because I did not have green onions or 2 TBS on sesame oil. I used just 1 TBS and 1/4 of a white onion finely minced and used brown sugar as others suggested. I also cooked it more like a stir fry in a hot sauté pan but it still came out wonderfully. Served it with white rice and hot pepper sauce wrapped in an iceberg lettuce leaf and it was GREAT! The family is already asking when we will have it again.
