Spooky Witches' Fingers

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2009
First off, let me say that these were a lot of fun to make! Like many others, I added some green food coloring to tint the fingers and added some warts. They turned out looking great. However, they were very tasteless. I was so disappointed in how bland they were. It's a great idea-needs some tweeking in terms of taste.

Rich and Creamy Tomato Basil Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2008
This soup was great!! Everyone in my family gobbled it up. The only change I made was that instead of heavy cream I used fat free half & half to cut back on the calories. Add a salad and this is a great weeknight meal!

Caribbean Coconut Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2008
First off, let me say I feel really bad about writing this. However, I feel that this is what these reviews are intended for. I found this recipe terrible!! That’s really saying a lot for me. My husband calls me “unusually unpicky”, meaning that I like practically everything I eat. It was overly “peppery” and the coconut milk could not even be tasted. My 8 year old asked if we were having enchiladas for dinner….that’s how overpowering the peppers were. I will never make this again.

Beef Cabbage Stew

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2007
Yummy!! Served this last night to my husband and 2 kiddos (7&8) and what little was left, I ate for breakfast! In the past I haven't had much luck with beef stews because the meat always turned out so tough. This stew was the only one that I've made where the beef was tender. Thanks for the recipe!!

Cali's Sinful Creme Brulee

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2007
This was a great recipe in that the creme brulee was so rich and yummy. I didn't care for the chocolate part only because it took a jackhammer to get to into it. Next time I will try to adapt it with something that won't be so hard when it comes out of the fridge. All in all, it is a good recipe.

Eclair Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2006
Yummmmmy! I agree with the previous post about the frosting. I like to make the cake 1 day ahead so that the graham crackers won't be too crunchy, by then the crackers are nice and soft.

Ribboned Fudge Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2006
Although it made a great presentation, it lacked flavor. Next time, I will tweek it and add some extras (ie. chocolate chips to the cake batter).

Vietnamese Chicken and Long-Grain Rice Congee

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2005
Yummmm. This is what my mom would make for me as a child whenever I wasn't feeling well. This is the Vietnamese equivalent of Chicken Noodle Soup. In fact, just recently I came down with Bronchitis. This is what my mom brought over for me…and I’m 33 years old! I'm so glad I came across this recipe!!

Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2005
As far as muffins go, these muffins were just ok. I was dissapointed in the cream cheese was absorbed by the muffin mix when baking. There was no sign of the cream cheese when they got out of the oven. Next time, I would leave out the egg in the cream cheese mix and perhaps top it off with a dollop of batter.

Honey Wheat Bread I

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2003
First of all, I have to admit, I'm really not a fan of homemade bread. The recipes I have made in the past have all resulted in a dense, dry, tasteless loaf of bread...until now! This is by far the BEST bread I have ever made. I comes out soft and moist and full of flavor. I now make this bread about every other day. And, the best part is that it can be made in the bread machine!!!!! All I had to do was to add all the ingredients according to manufacturer's directions and set it on the dough cycle. When cycle is complete, remove dough and place in a buttered loaf pan. Cover with a damp dishtowel and let rise for 1 hour. Then bake according to the directions. Comes out PERFECT every time!! This one is hands down a keeper!!
