Easy Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2012
I've made this several times. It comes out great. Sometimes I sub whole milk or half-and-half for the 2% milk, I store the mini chocolate chips in the fridge so they are ready for ice cream. My other change is increasing the mint extract to 1.5 tsp. Thank you Darryn for the recipe.

Cindy's Roasted Red Pepper Dip

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2012
I found this recipe in Lightedway's recipe box. I love rosted red peppers and all the ingredients so I decided to put it on my to-do list. I used homemade ranch dressing mix (Scotdog's recipe). This dip is delicious! It's going onto my list of favorite dips. Thanks for the great recipe, Cindy! :)

Homemade Laundry Soap

Reviewed: May 20, 2012
I tried making this in the past with a recipe from the Internet but I didn't use washing soda so my results weren't great. Baking Nana's help with getting the right ingredients is very much appreciated. Also, 1 bar soap equals 2 cups grated. I grated soap with my FP The first time I made this recipe. The second time I had my 11yo hand grate it. I now have a dedicated FP for soap which is great because it takes a bit of work to get soap residue off the FP bowl. Thnks Baking Nana for helping me to get this recipe right. :)

Old Fashioned Vanilla Ice Pops (a.k.a. Pop Pops)

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2012
I made this delightful frozen snack using locally brewed "Creme Soda" which is light brown; hence the brownish colored pops. The bottled soda pop is 12oz so I adjusted the recipe quantities accordingly: 12oz soda, 1c. water, 1/4c. sugar (I used Splenda granular) and 1/8+ tsp. vanilla. I made 4 popscicles and 1 tray of pop cubes. The pops taste wonderful and refreshing. I plan to make a second batch using orange soda and orange extract since my DS loves orange soda. Thank you SHORECOOK for the fun recipe!

Mocha Cupcakes ~ A Mocha (Coffee-Chocolate) Version of "Sweet Vanilla Cupcakes"

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2012
These are very good cupcakes. The flavor is mocha. I haven't perfected a pure chocolate flavor (maybe i should have named them "mocha cupcakes") that I set out for but I am very pleased with the mocha flavor. Try it with or without the 1/2 tsp instant coffee and see what you prefer. Would love to hear about your "tweaks.". Post them in reviews or let me know @The Buzz.

Rich Chocolate Frosting

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2012
I needed this to be crusting buttercream so I made it with shortening subbed for half the butter and i used a few ounces of heavy cream instead of milk. Tastes great, rich and fudgey. Will make this again. Thanks Amy for the recipe.

Mother-In-Law Eggs

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2012
I made these yesterday. I only used 2 pinches of sugar in a double batch because we prefer only subtle sweet. These eggs are tangy and delicious the way deviled eggs should be. Thanks SHORECOOK for the staple recipe.

Caroline's Firecrackers

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2012
I finally found Flamin' Hot Cheetos at Walmart. Small bags about 3 oz each. I made half a recipe using 8oz Wilton's white candy melts and 6 oz Cheetos. Wonder why they are pink? The Cheetos color has lots of red in it and it colors the white candy when you mix them. The firecrackers are more like bark than bars; if you want Bars then use more candy melts. . Once set, I broke the Firecrackers up kind of like brittle. I really like them and could probably eat them all. DH tried one and was not happy; no problem with the color after all he lives in a pink house . . . Maybe he would have liked them if I told him what they were before he taste tested them. Anyhow, thanks Caroline for sending me on a month long Cheetos quest and for sharing this unusual recipe. :)

Jellybean Bark

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2012
I made this with my DS. I gave him the kitchen scale so he could measure out the ingredients. We mixed 2 kinds if starburst jellybeans and used exactly a pound. We also used 1 lb of Wilton Cabdy melts which is just shy of 1 1/2 bags. I melted the candy in a double boiler since I prefer that method to the microwave. DS spread a thin layer of candy melts onto a foil lined jellyroll pan. The candy melt layer was 1/8 inch or less. The jellybeans were the smaller size which I think works best since the candy melt layer is thin and probably wouldn't hold large jellybeans well. The refrigeration time was much less than an hour. We had no trouble breaking the bark into pieces. It turned out quite cute. Cuter than I expected. DS loved it and so did DH. so family gave it an A+. Will make it part of our Easter traditions. Thanks Christina for the fun recipe. :-)

Dreamy Orange Cupcakes

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2012
I reviewed this a few days ago but the review disappeared via an AR glitch. So here's a new review. I made the frosting only from this recipe. I added two teaspoons of orange extract to it. The orange flavor was very good and the frosting piped well. I used the frosting on Marianne's Sweet Vanilla Cupcakes and it was a perfect vanilla creamscicle kind of flavor. Thank you MrsFisher0729 for sharing your recipe.

The best sliders ever. I keep 1lb packages of seasoned slider meat in the freezer -- it makes about 8 sliders. This is a super easy recipe and it's in my regular dinner rotation. Note: the Peanutbutter amount I prefer is 1 tsp per pound.

Sweet Vanilla Cupcakes

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2012
I made these today. A double batch made exactly 24 cupcakes. The batter is dense; I put it in a zip top bag and filled the cupcakes tin (1/2 full) using the bag. I baked the cupcakes at 325 F in my convection oven for 20 minutes and they came out great. I read a lot of reviews that state these cupcakes are "light" and I almost didn't make them due to that I was looking for a dense cupcake. IMO, these cupcakes are dense. They are also sweet and very vanilla. I will make these again but might try adding a different flavor extract instead of vanilla. I frosted these with frosting from AR recipe "Orange Dream Cupcakes" (with 2 tsp orange extract added to the frosting). I filled some with fillings from Caroline's "Homemade Cream Filled Cakes" Thank you Marianne for another great recipe!

Honey Dijon Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2012
I made these to serve for dinner but they were so good I ate them all before dinner! Instead of boiling (i dont care for boiled veggies) I cooked the Brussels sprouts in a couple tablespoons of olive oil a hot skillet for around 6 minutes. I prepared the sauce using 3 parts honey to 2 parts mustard and I used half yellow mustard and half brown. I don't think that any of my changes strayed from the original intent of the author. The mustard is a perfect combined with these little cabbage veggies (think corned beef & cabbage with mustard). I will make these again. Thanks sueb for recommending. And thanks Stacy for sharing this recipe!
