Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2013
I had my doubts but this cookie really does live up to its name. The dough is really sticky and I resisted the temptation to add more flour. I followed the recipe exactly. . . no tweaks. The reason for 4 stars is that I find the cookies to be too sweet. Thanks for the recipe.

Boston Baked Beans

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2013
These were good. I did not tweak the recipe. The problems I had were that they were too mushy because they cooked too long and they were too salty because 2 tsp of salt is way too much. Essentially this is a good recipe and I would make again with adjustments to cooking time and salt. Thanks for sharing the recipe.

Asian Coconut Rice

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2013
This has a mild coconut flavor along with nuttiness of the jasmine rice. I thought it was just okay but my 12yo asked for seconds. I think next time I'll try the coconut lime rice recipe instead since it has more dimension which this recipe clearly lacks. Just bland and boring to me.

Bacon, Lettuce, and Tomato Macaroni Salad

This is delicious; it really tastes like a BLT. I agree with oth reviewers that the bacon doesn't stay crisp so add it last. Thanks for the great recipe. :)

This recipe was recommended in reply to my request for a waffle recipe. My family loved it and my husband said not to look for another recipe because this one is perfect. :)

These are chewy but flat. I followed the recipe exactly. Next time I would chill the dough before baking.

Spicy Pretzels

I made these seasoned pretzels for a party and everyone loved them. I used homemade dry ranch dressing mix from a recipe by SD here at AR. These are delicious and several people asked for the recipe. Thanks duboo for sharing your recipe!

Excellent. Easy. Delicious. Used real whipped cream instead of cool whip. Next time will poke holes using wooden spoon handle. Thanks Leslie for the great recipe! :)

Homemade Black Bean Veggie Burgers

Reviewed: May 16, 2013
This is a tasty recipe. Why so many different opinions as to whether the burgers will hold together? Well, the wetness of the veggies and beans is variable...so cooks must use some common sense and tweaks when putting these burgers together. I doubled the beans and bread crumbs in the recipe but only needed a single recipe of peppers, onions and garlic. Used double recipe of seasoning and added a couple tablespoons dried cilantro. My family enjoyed these veggie burgers. Thanks LAURENMU!

Braised Corned Beef Brisket

Reviewed: May 10, 2013
I made this recipe recently. I love slow cooking corned beef instead of boiling. I roasted this in my roaster at 250 degrees. This was delicious. Thanks Mauigirl! UPDATE: I baked a 2.5 pound brisket for about 3 hours until the internal temp was 210 degrees and it came out perfectly.

Country Pound Cake

This is a good basic pound cake. I made it for a bake sale and sold nearly all the slices. I omitted the lemon extract...next time I'll double the vanilla extract. Thanks Morgan!

Cream Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2013
Initially, I didn't like this cake but after it sat for a day, I found it to be good. If I make it again I would add more vanilla and be sure to not bake too long. I baked it on the longer side of the instructions and wish I had taken it out earlier so it would be moister. The cake has a big crumb and is a pleasant dessert. I frosted with some rich chocolate frosting. Thank you Carol for the recipe-- a great way to use leftover cream.

Rich Chocolate Frosting

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2013
I needed this to be crusting buttercream so I made it with shortening subbed for half the butter and i used a few ounces of heavy cream instead of milk. Tastes great, rich and fudgey. Will make this again. Thanks Amy for the recipe.

Honey Dijon Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2013
I made these to serve for dinner but they were so good I ate them all before dinner! Instead of boiling (i dont care for boiled veggies) I cooked the Brussels sprouts in a couple tablespoons of olive oil a hot skillet for around 6 minutes. I prepared the sauce using 3 parts honey to 2 parts mustard and I used half yellow mustard and half brown. I don't think that any of my changes strayed from the original intent of the author. The mustard is a perfect combined with these little cabbage veggies (think corned beef & cabbage with mustard). I will make these again. Thanks sueb for recommending. And thanks Stacy for sharing this recipe!

Bryan's Red Ribbon Recipe

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2013
I made these for recipe group. My 12yo made these with me with no problems. Mmmm....big, soft, chewy oatmeal cookies. Subbed butter for shortening so cookies spread more but still very good. 9 minutes baking time is spot on. Used a medium cookie scoop and yielded 23 cookies. Thank you Bryan for a yummy recipe.

Shanghai Noodle Salad

This salad is very good. I doubled the sauce recipe. I omitted the salt since salt in addition to soy sauce seemed excessive. I subbed sriracha sauce for crushed red pepper. Will make again. Thanks tyansia :)

Savoury Potato, Green Bean and Bacon Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2013
I made this for a small outdoor dinner party. I chose it because it's reminiscent of a recipe my mother made with potatoes, beans, vinegar, parsley & olive oil. This recipe is a wonderful variation of the green beans and potatoes of my childhood. The additions of mustard and bacon are perfect. Thank you Don for sharing another great recipe :)
