Sourdough Buckwheat Pancakes

I love sourdough and buckwheat, and I just don't love this recipe. They were way too heavy without any offsetting fluffiness. The mixture was more like dough than batter, so when I cooked it it cooked like a flat piece of heavy bread than a pancake. OK taste -- we ate it -- but falls into the don't make again category. I'll stick with either sourdough pancakes, or buckwheat pancakes -- won't try to make them both at the same time!

Zesty Penne, Sausage and Peppers

Though not too healthy, this is a great recipe for company. Easy to make, easy to tweak. Don't tell anyone about The secret ingredient of cream cheese!

Balsamic Strawberries

These are fantastic. Don't worry about getting measurements exactly right; its the kind of recipe with a lot of wiggle room. I just chopped in what looked like a T of butter, poured in what looked like the right amount of sugare, and then a shot of basalmic vinegar and simmered it up. Not sure exactly how many strawberries; I just put in what I had left in my 'fridge. Easy, easy, fantastic, fantastic. My husband raved about it. Will make these again and again, especially for an easy desert if we have guests.

Homemade Black Bean Veggie Burgers

These are great. Didn't want/have breadcrumbs so I pulsed some old fashioned oats in food processor instead (not flour, but no flakes either). When mixture was still too moist, I threw in some oat bran until texture was right. Followed advice and blotted beans of excess water. Puréed veggies in processor, then added beans and pulsed. Freeze. Grill or bake in individual foil packets at BBQ...

Wacky Buckwheat Spice Cake

This is a very different cake, and fantastic! I bring it to potlucks and gatherings and it is always a hit as it is a good change from sinful overly sugary deserts. It is a desert for "men"! I have buckwheat on hand, and throw it in the vitamix to make flour. Easy easy to make! Keep some whipped cream on hand to help those who need extra sweetness.
