It's just me and my 18 yr old daughter. We're picky eaters so sometimes It's hard to cook just for the two of us. My mom and nana are excellent cooks and of course never use recipes. lol I started out baking when I was about 8 or 9 and can make pretty much anything. Cooking, I got a late start but I can follow a recipe and have it turn out wonderful. Cooking relaxes me and I love sharing whatever I make with coworkers, family and friends. Because of Allrecipes and the super helpful reviews, I'm confident my food will turn out yummy and it'll be something I can be proud of.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook and to bake. Pretty much everything I make comes from Allrecipes and is a 4 1/2 to 5 star review. I love making different dips and spreads and my new kick is Quick Breads. For my coworkers during the holidays I bake candy, breads and cookies instead of buying gifts. I've found fabulous chicken recipes on here as well as delish meatless meals.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom, aunt and nana always made food to show how much they loved and cared for the people in their lives. They had a hundred reasons why and yet needed no reason at all to brighten someones day with something made from the heart. We always get to choose our birthday meals and my best friend and I started this tradition also. My favorite time to bake is on a saturday night, in the colder months, with the radio playing in the backround and my windows steaming from something hot in the oven. Best stress reliever!
My cooking triumphs
If i've gotten the recipe from here it's always a triumph. Two off the top of my head are Grandma's Old Fashioned Oatmeal Cookies (my best friends yearly birthday request) and Bacon and Tomatoe Quiche. It was the first time I ever made a quiche so I was nervous. I made this for the morning after my cousins wedding so they could have their first breakfast together as husband and wife. They said they didn't even bother to get a plate and ate it right out of the pan it was so yummy. Once again, THANK YOU ALLRECIPES!
My cooking tragedies
I can't really remember a tragedy. Maybe when I was a kid and first started baking but that's it. I sound like a broken record but if I want to find something, in any catagory, to make I come here. I only make high star reviewed recipes and always read what changes people make. Most of the time I follow those changes and it's always wonderful.
