in my normal quest for new things to try online, i started looking for something to do with a batch of clementines that appear to be on the sour side (after that first mouth-puckering bite, i haven't had the heart to try another one to see if it was a fluke.) in any case, i happened upon a… MORE

About this Cook
gah...i love to read, i love being outdoors & i thoroughly enjoy looking at pictures of expensive, beautiful kitchens. forlornly.
My favorite things to cook
everything! (j.k - desserts, desserts are my fave)
My favorite family cooking traditions
chicken pie, pumpkin bread! (a great-great's recipe), oatmeal cookies, cornbread
My cooking triumphs
my house is constantly filled with boys. anything i cook gets hoovered up immediately. triumph is when i can extract a review of the food they just sucked down without swallowing.
My cooking tragedies
i am often too impatient to wait for cakes to cool before cutting or frosting. cut to cakes missing bits that are still stuck to the pan, or frosting with crumbs.

Mom's Zucchini Bread
simply adding my praise to the chorus. this recipe is absolutely wonderful. i used 1/2 cup oil & 1/2 cup sour cream. i am planning on making another batch today to freeze - we ate all the first batch in one day!

Fluff Dip for Fruit
delish! i do have to point out that it is rather thick - i made it without the amaretto & compensated with an extra half-cup of milk, but it still was too heavy to dip cake in without it crumbling, even with extra milk...still good though, especially on strawberries!

Black Magic Cake
a really delicious cake. very soft - you'll have to pop it in the fridge or freezer if you need to work with it; otherwise it doesn't even need icing. thanks for a great recipe!
