Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: May 9, 2013
My family love this with a few modifications: 1. use fresh peas, they hold up better. 2. brown the chicken cubes in oil for better flavor. 3. sweat the onions, carrots and celery then add broth, peas and browned chicken, then milk, then thicken with flour/broth mix. I'm not a fan of boiling meat and vegetables.

Dee's Roast Pork for Tacos

Reviewed: May 9, 2013
Fantastic pork recipe. Easy week day meal. I use this in the slow cooker for taco meat. My kids (both under 5) love it. Use mild green chilis and about half of the chili powder or it would be too hot for the kids. Still tasted great!

Roast Chicken with Rosemary

Reviewed: May 9, 2013
Great basic chicken roasting recipe. You can add whatever flavors you wish to stuff the bird. I've added quartered lemons, garlic and various herbs. Using fresh herbs will get the best result. And use a meat thermometer to check doneness.

Garlic Pork Roast

Reviewed: May 9, 2013
This was very bland and the sweet potatoes soak up the chicken broth flavors and leave them tasting strange. There is just chicken broth left in the bottom which isn't gravy or sauce.... just broth. Nothing you'd want to pour over your meat.

Slow Cooker Italian Beef for Sandwiches

Reviewed: May 9, 2013
While this recipe has the right flavors the sauce is not potent enough and the ratio of sauce to beef is not quite right. I used a 2.5 lb roast with 3 cups of beef broth instead of water and double the amount of spices. The traditional sandwich is served with the beef on a crusty roll soaking wet with sauce! Also sauté green peppers and serve on top of the sandwich. My husband and kids loved this with the changes!

Christmas Brunch Casserole

Reviewed: May 9, 2013
I made this as posted on Christmas Eve for Christmas brunch. The entire casserole is bland and dry. It needs more seasoning and maybe twice as many eggs. This is a decent base recipe but will be making adjustments in the future.

Eileen's Spicy Gingerbread Men

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2011
These are fantastic! Perfect soft cookie with a delicious and not over-powering gingerbread flavor. I did add a 1/2 c of flour as other posters recommended but otherwise followed the recipe to the letter. Even working with small portions from the refrigerator the dough needed to be a little stiffer. We ended up making another batch. A keeper for our Christmas cookies!

Wisconsin Native's Beer Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2010
Followed the recipe exactly and found it to be just ok. I've never had beer cheese soup before so i have nothing to compare this to but I can't figure out what all the fuss is about. It's very much like a cheese sauce with beer. There's just much better cream soups out there that have better flavor and more substance.

Rolled Buttercream Fondant

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2009
I read several reveiws before trying this recipe and the fondant just didn't turn out. It cracked when you tried to roll it thin and was very greasy. It also does not taste anything like buttercream frosting imo. More like sweetened shortening. Just really wasn't at all what I was expecting and it didn't work for us :(

Grilled Salmon with Habanero-Lime Butter

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2005
Very good! Be careful with the peppers...the oil stays on your skin. Use gloves! We used this recipe on a few types of fish with the key limes at our home. Turns out great...thanks!

Caramel Filled Chocolate Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2005
This was a MESS!! They melted all over the cookie sheet. The caramel stuck and made it nearly impossible to remove the cookies to eat. We peeled the cookies in chunks and ate some....it tasted good but you couldn't serve these to anyone.

Chicken Milano

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2004
Love this one! The sauce has a great creamy flavor. Over fettucine with some asparagus it's great. Sometimes I add mushrooms to the sauce but the regular recipe is perfect!

Love this Minestrone! I add some flank steak and red wine. Otherwise it's perfect!
