Caramel-Filled Chocolate Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2012
I've made these a few times, but yesterday they came to work with me for a competition. Out of 8 cookies, I won! Definitely a recipe that's worth the work.

Very bland. Sadly, a waste of my raviolis.

Cranberry Bundt Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2010
Delicious! My cranberries did migrate towards the bottom of the pan (top of the cake), but they didn't make it all the way down/up and it still tasted wonderful. I took this to a potluck at work and everyone loved it. I think this would be delicious as a coffee cake for breakfast, though we ate it for dessert.

Crackle Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2009
When I made the dough, I thought something was wrong because with 1/2 cup flour, it was more like cake batter, but I figured refrigeration would help. It did, but it was still gooey. I had high hopes for these because they look pretty and were going to be for a cookie exchange. I'm glad I tried out the recipe first because they lack flavor. They're not chocolately, though they look it, and they're not all that sweet either. Definitely NOT going to the cookie party - sorry!

Chocolate Cheesecake

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2009
Delicious! I made it exactly as written and was worried it would be too chocolatey, but it was perfect. I'll be making this one again!

Marshmallow Crispie Bars

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2009
These were great! Chewy and delicious. Other recipes are too dry, so I was looking for one that stayed gooey and this definitely fit!

Love the Mama Lemon Bars

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2009
This was good, but not great. Some reviewers said too lemony, some said not enough, so I made it as-is. It was not terribly lemony, I would like it more lemony, but that's my taste. Also, some reviewers said there wasn't enough lemon topping - I agree. I would double that next time. But they were good and everyone I shared them with liked them, I had just hoped for something a little more tart and with at least as much lemon stuff on top as crust.

Chocolate Covered Cherry Cookies II

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2008
These cookies are very good. Very chocolately. But I don't think they taste like chocolate covered cherries all that much (so I took away a star). The dough scared me a little because it didn't want to come together at first and looked very dry and crumbly, but after a bit more mixing, it turned into a nice, soft dough that formed easily into balls. The picky hubby approves, too!

Slow Cooker Pineapple Pork Roast

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2008
I don't like pork, but I did like this. Very tender and good flavor. I misread the pineapple label at the store and bought crushed, but that worked just fine.

Cranberry Orange Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2008
These are THE BEST oatmeal cookies I have ever tasted. I will never make plain oatmeal raisin cookies again. I'll splurge on the dried cranberries and enjoy every bite. If you haven't tried this recipe, you should. Thank you SO much for sharing!

Dijon-Tarragon Cream Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2008
I didn't make this exactly as indicated, but it was delicious anyways. Per other suggestions, I added a bit of white wine to deglaze the pan, let that reduce a bit, then added garlic and onion to the pan and let that cook before adding the cream. I also used dried tarragon (about half as much) because I didn't have fresh. It smelled wonderful and tasted just as good. I made mashed potatoes to go with it and the sauce, when mixed in with the potatoes, much improved my run-of-the-mill mashed taters! Thanks so much!

Spicy Chipotle Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2008
I've never had a turkey burger before, but this one seemed pretty good. It was pretty moist and flavorful, but the cilantro flavor was a bit too much. It mellowed out some (or maybe I got one with less cilantro?) as leftovers the next day and wasn't as overpowering, but I still would probably omit it if I make these again.

Grilled Sausage with Potatoes and Green Beans

Reviewed: May 5, 2008
This was very good and very basic. We can do a lot of tweaking with this, which makes my picky hubby happy. I divided up the ingredients and made 4 individual packets (I didn't read that part of the instructions first) and baked it in the oven (too cold to grill last night!) at 450 for about 20 minutes and it was perfectly done. Update: I made this again last night and instead of salt and pepper, I used grill seasoning. It was the PERFECT thing the dish needed to add a bit of flavor to everything without overdoing it!

Valerie's Fruit Dip

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2008
I just made this with chocolate pudding (what I had on hand) and I think I could eat the whole bowl with a spoon, never mind the fruit! I can't imagine vanilla pudding could be better, but this recipe is a keeper and I will try it with the vanilla eventually. Thank you for posting a fruit dip that doesn't require marshmallow creme!

Frosted Nutmeg Logs

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2008
In an effort to use up some rum extract, I came across this recipe and I'm glad I did. Only 4 stars though because without the icing, the cookies are just okay. The icing definitely makes the cookie. But everyone I shared them with liked them and agreed they do taste like eggnog!

Candy Cane Cheesecake

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2008
This was delicious! The only thing I would change would be to sprinkle the crushed candy canes just before serving, as they half-melted in the fridge overnight and looked kinda icky. But it tasted great - the whole family liked this for the Christmas dinner dessert.

Chicken Pasta II

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2007
I may have only given this three stars myself, but since my very picky hubby went back for seconds, I've decided to give it the extra star. It was kinda bland and the pasta didn't help that at all. My hubby and I also didn't like the tomato peels - the tomatoes cooked down nicely, but next time I think I'll either peel them first or use canned. I also didn't cook the chicken in bacon drippings since my bacon was left over from BLTs the night before. I just used about 1 tbsp of butter, but I wonder if the flavor would have been better with the bacon drippings or overpowering?

Fudge Truffle Cheesecake

I made this for my boss' birthday, as he is a chocoholic and everyone raved about it. One even said it belonged in a display case at a bakery! Thanks so much for posting this delicious recipe!

Oven Roasted Red Potatoes

I didn't have any onion soup on hand, so I substituted veggie soup mix and they turned out great. My picky hubby loved them!

Colcannon

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2007
Though I'm not sure what this should have tasted like, I liked what I ended up with. I doubled the potatoes, cut the butter in half, didn't use any of the milk the leeks were boiled in and pureed the cooked cabbage in my food processor to make a thicker mashed potato-like dish. My picky hubby kept coming into the kitchen to see my "3-pot potatoes", worrying that it was green and wondering what the leeks were. But, to my suprize and his, he liked them too! I think a little garlic would have made them even better and may add some when I do this for real (this was a trial run) for a St. Patty's day potluck later this month. Thanks for the recipe!
