GREAT SOUP. But I must admit I did step outside of the recipe ever-so-slightly. I sauteed some onion in the butter until nice and soft (mainly because I just love to start a recipe with sauteed onions)... then added the tomatoes, broth, and sugar. (I actually used stewed tomatoes because they have more flavor.) Instead of using just whipping cream, I used just a little cream and mostly mascarpone cheese (only because I like more of a thick bisque-like consistency... this makes it creamy without thinning it out). It was delicious, and I completely forgot to add the basil! I look forward to trying it again and remembering the star ingredient.
