Beef Stroganoff III

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2011
My family didn't care for this recipe. Hubby said the sauce was way too runny, teen son hated the sour cream/cream cheese flavor. I'm going to use this as a base, revise it for us and try again.

Bread Pudding II

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2011
My family has made this for years for Easter and Christmas, but the prep (and clean up!) is a little faster: melt butter in microwave in 9X13 microwave-safe baking. Coat all sides of bread with melted butter. Make cinnamon and brown sugar "sandwiches" with the bread. Mix together eggs, milk, and vanilla and pour over bread. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight. Prior to baking, let sit out for 20-30 mins. Bake at 350 for 50 mins. For breakfast we omit the raisins. For dinner dessert we add the raisins.

Stuffed Green Peppers I

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2011
My teenage son actually asks for this! I took the advice of others and used a can of diced tomatoes, sauteed garlic with the meat, added extra spices, and cooked the rice first. When I tried with uncooked rice it needed an extra 30 minutes before the rice was fully cooked. Makes the house smell great and heats up well as leftovers, too!

Eggplant Parmesan II

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2010
Definately sweat the eggplant, don't forget to bake them first, and keep your slices even!

Easy OREO Truffles

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2010
I added some cinnamon and nutmeg to the crushed cookie mixture and served these for a Christmas party dessert. The 60 people who attendeed all raved about it, and it was the first dessert to be devoured even after tripling the recipe!

Grilled Brown Sugar Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2010
Delicious!! I didn't have any apple juice so I used Jack Daniels like someone else suggested. We prefer olive oil to vegetale oil so I made that substitution. Otherwise followed the recipe exactly. My husband and I have NEVER tasted pork chops this good! It was so easy to make and will definitely be making again - perhaps even for my mother in law.

Ratatouille

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2009
This was absolutely delicious! (And I'm not a big vegetable person.) It made much more than I expected, in fact, in order to fit it into my 2-qt casserole dish I had to cut it in half. I served it as a veggie side dish for a dinner party of 5 and had some left overs. Believe it or not, it was even better reheated a few days later. Very simple to make.

Baked Ham

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2009
This was delicious! I took it to Thanksgiving with my inlaws (about 50 people, most of whom had been in the restaurant/catering business for year). It was the first time that I ever brought the main dish, and everyone raved about it! Since I could only get a pre-cooked spiral ham, I reduce the cooking time to about 2-3 hours for a 12 pound ham. I marinated it overnight in cola with brouwn sugar rubbed over both sides. Then, during cooking I basted it constantly to make sure that it didn't get dried out. It was super moist and full of flavor.

Asparagus Parmesan

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2009
This recipe is hit or miss. I've made it about 6 times now. The first time it was excellent, but each time it's gone downhill. I can't seem to get the right consistency for the asparagus. It's either overdone or underdone. I use thin asparagus since they are usually more tender than the thick ones.

Baked Ziti IV

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2009
The sour cream was a nice touch. I added extra sauce and made sure to layer the sauce next to the ziti, and covered while cooking, but it still turned out a little dry.

Easiest Peanut Butter Fudge

Very easy to make and enjoyed by everyone. I have a large family, so for Christmas every year I make fudge for the "more extended" family members - this is one of the recipes I use.

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2002
This was the best tasting turkey my family ever had. It was my first time cooking Thanksgiving dinner, and the turkey was fabulous! (I added extra butter to the outside to make sure it stayed moist) The turksy was exceptionally moist and tv-perfect golden!!

Amusement Park Cornbread

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2002
Cooked it for 20 min longer than required, and the middle still did not get done. I ended up microwaving pieces, otherwise the endges would've burned. But the outside (that cooked properly) tasted great.
