Actually Delicious Turkey Burgers

good flavor with the addition of dijon with white wine mustard, soy, worcestershire, seasoning salt instead of reg salt, hickory liquid smoke, leaving out the garlic, and using goldfish cheddar crackers as sub for bread crumbs.

Rempel Family Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2014
I've made this meatloaf a few times and it is a definite 5 stars with the changes I made. Totally new recipe, I know, but it's sooo good this way I just had to share (-: I halved the onion soup (next time I'll just cut it down by a quarter), added a few extra squeezes of ketchup, liquid smoke (maybe 1 tbsp), worcestershire sauce (maybe 2 tbsp), cayenne pepper (1/2 tsp), and 1/4 c brown sugar. I subbed the plain crackers with cheddar goldfish crackers. The glaze mentioned in one of the first few reviews is a must, as is placing bread on the bottom of the pan to reduce grease. You could just dump it out a few times while cooking. I did that the first time I made it and it worked out fine. I wouldn't try it when I double the recipe, as I did this time. I didn't have time for the loaf to cook so I just threw it into the skillet and browned the out of it. Again, I did double the recipe and it took maybe 10 minutes for a third of the batch to cook. It turned out to be a delicious "loose meat" sandwich on country potato bread, topped with American cheese and a little mayo. The extra onion soup mix wasn't missed when this recipe is used as a sandwich filling, but I'll be sure to add that onion soup (minus a quarter) the next time I make it in loaf form. Think I'm in the mood for a snack lol

Easy Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2014
Hmm... Well, the cookies didn't really spread and each bite is dryer than the last. I think it was the baking powder that made it so puffy and cake-like. I'll look for a recipe the omits it.

Quick and Easy Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2014
This was my first time trying out an alfredo sauce recipe. Made as is this sauce is super rich (once it reduces) but a little bland. After adding extra garlic, pepper, and a little seasoning salt it was perfect! I like how easy it was to make and that it called for milk instead of cream. Saves us a few calories (-:

Mushroom and Chicken with Sour Cream Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2014
Not a fan. The lemon juice did not complement this recipe at all. It called for way too much sour cream. Between the lemon and sour cream it has a strange tang. No one in my family will eat it. Trying to save it now so it doesn't go to waste...

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2013
I finally found a close match to my Grandma's FAMOUS Christmas oatmeal cookies. I tried it with just raisins then added chocolate chips then added walnuts. The cookie with it all was definitely the favorite. I also took a poll on the need for buttercream icing. Of course the icing won 100%. Topping with rainbow sprinkles and a red hot candy really made it festive and Grandma's. Thanks so much Beth! My kids will grow up having your cookies every winter :-)

i had to use a cookie sheet as i didn't have a mini muffin pan. the flavor of the cookie with the candy was good but dry, almost like eating a spoonful of pb. I wonder if there's a secret to keeping a pb cookie moist?

Christmas Breakfast Sausage Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2013
The end result of explicitly following these directions, except for cooking 10 min longer, was just terrible. If you are one who has a remote food texture issue, as in not a fan of runny eggs over toast, then you to are likely to find this inedible.I did manage to save it by browning the heck out of it in quarters over medium-high heat in a skillet. I smooched it flat and just kept breaking it up and flattening. It took browning it this way until it was almost burnt to get rid of the raw, squishy egg texture the bread cubes held on to. 4 star dish taste wise afterwards. Not pretty visually. First time I've strongly disagreed with so many positive reviews. Won't make again.

Bacon Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2013
really good but a few tweeks were necessary. I used shredded hash browns that I browned salt and peppered, about 2 tsp of parsley, carrots and 1 roll grands buttermilk biscuits torn into pieces. Next time I'll omit the corn. You'd think it would compliment this dish well but it did just the opposite to me; I'll use carrots and celery instead. Easy with the salt! I learned the hard way that the salt intensifies as it cooks

Curry Stand Chicken Tikka Masala Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2013
This is an excellent recipe for adventurous adults or those used to Indian cuisine. My family doesn't enjoy traditional Indian food much but I was feeling froggy. My 3 yo hated it with a passion lol but my burger and fries husband really liked it, especially after a generous topping of chopped cilantro (TRY IT!!). I doubled the recipe and used reg butter, half and half, & halved the heat subbing 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes for the double batch. I only had about 1 lb ckn so I lightly fried 3 lg cubed potatoes in a sprinkling of salt, pepper, sugar, onion powder and curry. Did the same for the cubed ckn. I think the potato and cilantro are a must for this recipe. Also, even after cutting the heat, it still had a pleasant tingle to it (btw I am a fan of spicy). Had I followed the recipe this would have been nearly too spicy to eat!

Pumpkin Pancakes

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2013
A great base recipe that definitely needs a few tweeks. I added 1 tsp of vanilla. Other that that, made as directed. I liked them but the Mr wasn't impressed. There was a need for more sugar and spices as the end result was a bit bland. Also, the pumpkin flavor was faint so I'll increase that by 1/2 c next time.

A well deserved 5 stars! My husband immediately saved the recipe to the kitchen desktop right after his first bite :-) We have some fond memories of the Olive Garden zuppa toscana, so with the addition of fennel seed this recipe was perfect! Thanks souporsweets!

Cranberry Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2013
This is an excellent recipe. I used half brn sug/white sug and had to cook it way longer than instructed to get it to hold its shape a bit. I'd encourage all to rinse the fresh cranberries in a strainer and pick out the leaves and mushy ones. Maybe it's common sense to some, but this was my first time making cranberry sauce and I nearly just threw the cranberries in straight from the bag. I was surprised how many yucky ones there were. Also, the longer I let it cook, the richer the flavor became. Can't wait to dig in tomorrow! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Double Layer Pumpkin Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2013
I upped the crm chz and egg by one and added 1/3 c sour crm. Unfortunately I made my own fresh pumpkin puree and it turned out bland bland bland even after jncreasing the spicss by half. I used a 10 inch spring form pan and put 2 c plain filling (delish btw)on the bottom. That wasn't nearly enough. I'll at least double that layer, maybe triple, next time heavily season my puree. I'll also add a caramel glaze to the whole pie when its done cooling. Everyone else liked it but I thought it was too much bland pumpkin layer and no where near enough plain cheesecake layer. I made it last night and am making it again tonight to redeem myself.

Grilled Salmon I

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2013
Awesome recipe! I made this to put over salad for a few dinner guests and it was a hit. The only changes were the addition of lots of fresh lemon juice, quartered grape tomatoes, not using the lemon pepper seasoning, and cooking it in the oven, foil covered, at 400 for about 25 minutes. The sauce was so good that we used it as dressing for the salad.
