About this Cook
Im a 43 yr old mom of a 24 yr old daughter, 15 yr old son, 5 yr old daughter and a grandma to 4 yr grandson. In my early years, I hardly cook at home and was eating out alot which resulted in weight gain. In 2002, I had the gastric bypass surgery and lost more than 150#. During the weightloss journey, I've learned to eat the right way and begun to cook more at home and that's when I became more interested in cooking. I've noticed I tend to get picky with what I want to eat that day. I love this site because I like trying out those delicious dishes once or twice a week & collecting new recipes which helps me become a better cook!
My favorite things to cook
Slowcookers are wonderful! Because I work on 2nd shift, this helps me to prepare dinner for my teenage son who comes home from school and the dinner is ready for him and as well as for me when I get off from work at 10 pm.

Sloppy Joes II
I told the kids I was going to make sloppy joe n tator tots for dinner and come to find out I didn't have a can of my regular popular brand of sloppy joe sauce which we always use and since we had artic blast with wind chill of minus 15... I didn't even wanna drive to the store 2 blocks away just for a can of sloppy joe sauce. So I hurried to search on this site for the recipe and what caught my eye was the amount of reviews and glanced at the ingredients to see what I had on hand...Shoot, NO garlic powder. I took a chance to add 1/2 teaspoon of chili powder.... O..M..G..I took a taste after throwing if as following directions minus garlic powder and replacing with chili powder....My 8 yr old goes, "When can we have it again??" =)

Cheesy Hash Browns
I've made this a few times... but omitting the onions and used bread crumbs on top.... Perfecto!

Potato Skillet
I've made this before except using garlic salt and bacon... I add in cubed ham and chopped green peppers. Sometimes I'll use fresh potatoes, cubed or use packaged refridgerated (not frozen) shredded hash browns.....Yum!
